The big Property Management companies with the multiple apartment complexes, are raising rents steadily because they can. Another example of corporate greed. In many places, the demand exceeds supply, and they can get the high rents. Homeownership is unattainable for many due to rising interest rates, high purchase prices, zoning regs, and because people can’t afford to buy a house they stay renting, which in turn decreases supply. Some of these big rental companies are making record profits, but like other corps they keep wanting more and more profits to feed the voracious shareholders and CEOs. We need more regulations and caps on rents.

Yes. Church right from Sunday school 🏫 to Social Hall for punch and cookies. 🍪 Then on to Adult Service 2nd pew right in front of Reverend Fellersen. And choir practice on Wednesdays. Youth Fellowship on Saturday nights. Would not have made it out halfway same without my Church! 😅

Rent increases are not due to high interest rates for the most part, except maybe for small mom and pop owners of a few houses etc. I worked in housing on all levels, pm, development, and at HUD for over 30 years. The big Property Management companies with the multiple apartment complexes, are raising rents steadily because they can. Another example of corporate greed. In many places, the demand exceeds supply, and they can get the high rents. Homeownership is unattainable for many due to rising interest rates, high purchase prices, zoning regs, and because people can’t afford to buy a house they stay renting, which in turn decreases supply. Some of these big rental companies are making record profits, but like other corps they keep wanting more and more profits to feed the voracious shareholders and CEOs. We need more regulations and caps on rents.
Remember when all the banks which caused the Recession bought up all the foreclosed properties with their profits!
