Wrong, that and the ability to put down that power on the road. The lengthened swing arm on the Busa should tell you this much. That Busa wouldn't be able to be that fast on the line without that swing arm. Give it a standard swing arm, even when you would increase HP, it wouldn't help so no it's not just about HP/weight ratio.

The Plaid was either low on power or more likely not in Plaid/Drag Race mode. With a decent charge and in the Drag race mode he should be running between 9.2-9.4. In which case he could have won the race. But the Hayabusa rider could have still won because he had a good launch, and he had a better reaction time. With all things equal it would have been a VERY close race. But that is what makes drag racing fun to watch!
It was quite cold that evening and its hard keeping those tires warm without the opportunity to do a burnout. I had my white Plaid out there that same night and I would spin all the day down the track.
