I admittedly have not been a fan of Ms. Jo's opera career...but I find her gift for this genre (Broadway ballads, e.g) GLORIOUS! Many opera singers have tried and not been able to bridge the styles, but she is far more capable of the nuances and aching rendering these particular songs demand. This is a most wondrous gift to us: lyrics of such beauty and love...all spun into magical melody and heartfelt interpretation. I am elated I happened upon this as well as "Once Upon a Dream". I hope she continues to record like music!
My sentiments exactly. Her English, when sung is impeccable & her diction is immaculate. I've studied the (English) words in her 101 Album. The way she's phrased some of these very difficult, non intuitive lines is impressive. As you say, her conversational English sounds like a foreigner - but not when she sings. In case you didn't catch on, I adore this woman - she could sing anything & it becomes a masterpiece!
