Cooktown I was there in late 1980s's a really magical place. The people were extremely friendly. I had a bloody fantastic night at the hotel drinking with the locals. The road/track into Cooktown was dirt, which was a great drive-in. Now, it is all tarred. If you are in far North Queensland, head a little further into Cooktown.
Cook was an amazing seaman and man.One of the most amazing man that has ever lived.Read his biography and you will see few of us achieve so much in one lifetime. He treated all native people with respect.
until he got to Hawaii, got speared and eaten, he’s my hero and my villen, hero because he was bourn into poverty and by his own efforts made it to cap ten, villen because of two words in his ships log “Tera Nursa” meaning empty land, witch condemned the natives of Australia to a 150 years of brutal oppression.
Having traveled all over Queensland, Cooktown is my favourite place (in the winter) one thing about the river is if you see one crock there’s another 19 that can see you.
@ Stop with the dramatics.Brutal oppression!!!We white people have propped up aboriginals since day 1.For goodness sake, change the victim narrative and make something of yourselves.
My Lovely home. Shame I missed you. Great episode. Love your balanced history lessons in your shows.. Next time you're at Archer Point, I hope to meet you and say G'day. :)
Hey Terry, enjoying your vlogs. Been watching since your posts near our neck of the woods - Yorke Peninsula. Do you mind telling me what camera, editing software and computer you use.
Hi. I'm glad you're enjoying the ride. I use a GoPro11 as my main vlogging camera, augmented by an iPhone 15 pro max. I edit with DaVinci Resolve on a MacBook Pro.
I’m thinking Cooke Town looks like the place for me. Quiet nice people and minimal crime. I do love a sea side location. Thanks Terry , you did mention Crocodiles 🫤 I’m waiting for the destination coming up where there is no mention of scary creatures. But love all the info you tell us. Thank you Suzy
Another great Vlog, what I especially enjoy about your videos, are the out of the way places that I’m not likely to visit in this lifetime, thanks for showing us around Cooktown, cheers from Downunder, 🦘🦘🦘❤️🇦🇺
Yes and no Cooks ship was taken their to repair but he didnt have women on board and so thereforth it does not be classed as a slettement but i tjink it should be classed as the dirst sleytlement sis they build dwellings if they did then yes its a sletterment
Beautiful scenery, quiet and an amazing historical town.

Love Cooktown have been there a few times it can get rather busy, maybe you were lucky to arrive in a quiet time..enjoy😊
A wonderful place. Just loved our stay there, would love to go back. Beautiful botanic gardens and food. Thanks for the great video.
My mother was born in Cooktown in 1918. Just before a huge cyclone hit and killed a number of people including her father and elder sister.
Thank you for taking me there, I want to go there soon, can't wait.
It’s worth a visit 😀
It’s boring
Love your videos, thanks for the effort you put into producing them.
Thanks 😀
I thought I knew Australia pretty well, but your research is outstanding. I learn a lot from your videos.

At least 30,000 visitors a year was the norm before covid… not exactly sure now, but still a lot of tourists

It’s a lovely town. Maybe a bit far from anywhere else but for some that’s the appeal.
Cooktown has changed a lot since we stayed there in 2000. Enjoyed your blog.
Another place in Queensland which is like a beautiful woman. You can watch it, but you can't touch it.
Is the old Cooktown Hospital building still there. I hear it was beautifully restored.
I’m afraid I didn’t see it while there but I believe its still there
The building has been restored and relocated in Cooktown. It's beautiful.
I've been to Cooktown and loved every minute. This would be a better doco if we didn't have so such of the narrator's face.
Do you need a FWD to do the Cairns to Cooktown drive..Thanks.
No. Go through Mareeba. It’s a beautiful sealed road all the way. You’re maybe thinking of the Bloomfield track which hugs the coast and is 4wd only.
@@LetsGo012 Thank you for the heads up.
We went in a tour bus via Mareeba. Seemed a very easy drive on a good road 😎
If you have mobility issues the town is very unfriendly and quiet overrated .
I'm not seeing how camping on the beach for 40 odd days, then everyone leaving makes a first settlement.
Womp womp
He must have pissed there to mark the area as many animals do.
