How funny life is. I was born in Slovakia but left when I was eight years old. As a teenager I lived in Manila for 4 years and absolutely loved your country. My heart shattered into a million pieces when I left Manila. For the past 22 years I have lived in Italy which is now home to me. You‘re a very talented young girl and I like watching your videos when I get homesick. 🤗
Hello Kimberly, I am in a very similar situation. I left the city life in Canada for the countryside of Japan. I also bought an old house that needed a lot of cleaning and work. I grow a lot of my own fruit and vegetables on my own land the same as you. Also, every day, all I can hear are the birds singing and the wind blowing. I will never go back to big city life. The countryside is very quiet, but it’s a relaxing, peaceful life. My grandparents and aunts and uncles immigrated to Canada from Slovakia many decades ago.
@Chasing Kimberly Hi Kimberly. Since southern Shikoku, Japan where I live is subtropical, I can easily grow fruit and vegetables that like the hot climate. I often grow sweet potatoes, May Queen and other potatoes, okra, peas, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, garlic, ginger, red and white onions, carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, and more. As far as fruit, I grow oranges, lemons, Yuzu, Kinkan, Buntan, loquat, pomegranate, grapes, Persimmons and others. But our winters are too cold for tropical fruit such as pineapple, bananas, mango and others which I know you can grow in the Philippines. I practice crop rotation which is very important to help eliminate unwanted insects. Plus, regularly I give certain areas of my land a holiday or time off from growing vegetables. Take good care of your soil for higher nutrient density. I recommend studying permaculture. What are you growing now?
Kim, ikaw ay isang dalisay na kaluluwa. Ang isang tunay na matalinong tao lamang ang makakapagtanto at tunay na makakaunawa sa kahalagahan ng mga simpleng bagay. Ang araw at init ay saglit.
Hi Kimberly, I live at the edge of a small town in USA. Farm fields and open country are just one block from my house. I have always lived this way and would never wish to live in the city. Kudos to you for making this big change. I hope you continue to enjoy your village life home. The changes you have made look fabulous!
Kim, I admire your old house so much! With my family, we also live in a small town and our house is a little bit older than yours. It was great experience and a joy to reconstruct it step by step, as it lasted almost ten years. We always tried to preserve the spirit of this house as much as it was possible. Your house is great. Especialy I like such a details, like your ceramic tiles, parquets, or this handrail next to the door.
Yes! I didnt want to change to much on our house as much as possible. To keep the old spirit of the house because I think its beautiful. Even the furnitures we have, are from the old house. I tried to restore them, paint them and they are so gorgeous. I love it so much. 😉
Ruby* Hi Ruby, yes, Danko's and Kim's old house 🏡, is continuesly improving !!! And pretty soon, it will look like a new house !!! I also love their garden !!! 💚* Jerry.🗽

Even though watching a bit late, this video was balsam for my soul. I'm in a similar situation, bought an old house a year ago, and nowhere near the state I would have wanted. It's frustrating at times, but we have to remember to appreciate what we have and set realistic goals.

Hi, the progress is amazing, Never mis your videos and they make me feel inspired and not alone in this foreign country while I learn everything about living here. Have you ever thought about making content with your house's renovations?
That was nice. I miss one important thing there - children! :-) Otherwise, I feel it the same and would never return to the city. Village life takes a lot of work, but it is soooo satisfying ....
@@ChasingKimberly Kim don't postpone to later - nothing is so important and nothing is so strong bond in family as children. Just stop make a plan and pray for that bless.
Living in the city and living in the countryside, both have positive and negative sides. Usually living in bigger city is more expensive but you have more posibilities of entertainment like bar, restarants, shopping, theatre, etc. On the other hand also living in the countryside has its advantages. If you have a land with house and large garden, you can also pursue hobbies and other interests that you would not be able to do in a city apartment. But I think there is more work in the countryside to maintain the house and garden - you have already known. I see you have already done a lot of work on your old but nice house. Anyway, I wish you and your husband good luck and a happy Easter and beautiful spring. By the way, do you already know what the little mole looks like? Michal
The moles! I googled them and saw what they look like but I also want to see them in person but never had a chance. They are like wind, I cant see them but I can feel their presence 😂😂
I have tons of mols - mosquitos - and all others creatures what make life miserable. During sunny days from spring to autumn I use outside electric zippers for destroy that small creatures - inside the house in every room that Moles balls - and ... inside I am free from all of them ... listening lake tides, or wind in the trees, or just wonderful blues music ... what can be better for life ? Did you coloured Eastern eggs ?? Highest time for it !
Hi kim , yeah you need to find a way to triple yourself 🙉. One of you can go to work in the morning , the other stays home and cleans and the other Kimberly will work in the garden 🙃😂. ohh well it is what it is . Happy Easter to you and your family .Hello to you from Sweden 🍀...
looking forward to your new garden & home related video! also, you should set up a bird feeder in your garden & get a pair of binoculars - bird watching is an awesome hobby
Ohhh! Bird feeder could be interesting! But to be honest, I see them a lot here eating something from my beds and even digging my soil 😂😂😂 i dont know why!
@@ChasingKimberly clearly - you don’t need a bird feeder, your whole garden is a feeder! that’s awesome. I would recomed a feeder for winter and a bowl with water for spring and summer. birds love to take a bath and will appreciate the water when it’s hot 😉
You two made the right decision at the right time: to have your own home, and to leave the city (it is easier for authoritarian politicians to control people there, as you saw during COVID) -- and look at the house as a project that you work on together, as something to strengthen the bond between you -- I wish you the best of luck
Hey eah! Thanks! I agree, building a garden is like a rebellion from the society. It definitely makes us more independent specially with our food supply. Hopefully someday, we can find a way to be self sufficient too with our energy!
