So yet another thing on the list "you can do, but shouldn't": Put the Gnome Amigo on the demon - especially, when the Gnome enters late in the game, as it is far to powerful a deterrent IMHO.
@@m.h.6470 I mean that is literally the point of the game, to figure out who the demon is and worry about executing them. if they figure out it’s the amigo, exile the traveler and then execute them without worry.
@@blunderstruck1 But until then, they can do a lot of damage by discouraging the nomination of the demon, which could give vital social feedback to the good team. Especially in groups, that play together often, this is a common tool to gauge, whether someone is on the good or evil team, that is taken away - at least in the early game.
Don't like that BotC goes dungeon-and-dragon-y where players are expected to act out a character (like being spooky). I'd rather just have a fun deduction game.
This character is broken for the good team, just like the Gunslinger. There's an objectively best strategy that makes good win almost every game: you just discuss which players are most suspicious and make them nominate the Gnome-tied player to be killed, or else you execute them. If the Gnome refuses to kill the chosen player, you assume the Gnome and their partner are both evil and you exile and execute them. Town effectively gets two executions for every demon kill. Most players won't use this strategy because it's not fun, but it's not a robust character. Besides the broken strategy, this character brings no benefit to the evil team when evil. F tier traveler alongside the gunslinger.
I dont understand your logic. If the gnome is good why would they let the nominator nominate the gnome buddy? are you always going to execute the gnome buddy if they're nominated? why wouldnt you nominate the buddy even if you and the buddy are evil? I really dont see how this is an objectively good strat.
If you were to watch TWO MINUTES after the character reveal at 8:40, they explain that the storyteller can choose to not respect a nomination on the amigo or gnome ability usage on the nominator if they feel that the nominator is being pressured into it. Also, having an extra evil player, even if for some reason they had zero ability is still a benefit to the evil team. If an ogre chooses an evil player and you say that it provides "no benefit" to the evil team, I would recommend you stop playing clocktower for a bit. I personally wouldn't pick the gnome as my character when joining a game, but I understand the appeal, which is to give you someone of the same alignment and ability to protect them. Please don't just immediately to conclusions once you see 'you may choose to kill' in ability text.
Doesn't really make sense tbh. Why would I gnome execute someone who I didn't think was evil? As usual, a storyteller shouldn't accept an ability usage that is done under duress. Similar to a psychopath meta where everyone is "forced" by town to psycho-kill themselves. It's antisocial and I wouldn't play in a game where people are trying to force that sort of meta. They explicitly talk about this at 8:30 Finally, the gnome easily brings a benefit when evil. They're +1 evil vote that is confirmed to the evil team. They protect an evil player. They kill a good player. I don't see how you could say no benefit.
