I just bought this exact guitar a few days ago. It's literally the most resonate guitar I've ever purchased. The color is even more beautiful in person. The neck and weight are just perfect (In my opinion)
how are u liking the pickups?
For metal, they offer some amazing overtones as they are sustaining long power chords, or just single string "Thalls". So great for getting that "Djent" sound.
Javier Trevino the only thing that's stopping me from buying this ibanez is that it has no neck volute...
Is it really a Ebony fretboard tho? Cuz whenever i see closeups at least online (because no stores near me have these in stock) it seems more like dark Rosewood.
Enzo Sisneros We are basically all out of natural all black ebony. Nowadays, most of the ebony on guitars is either dyed black or the manufacturer chooses not to use dye and you will still see the brown streaking in which it seems like dark rosewoood. Search up royal ebony or macassar ebony.
Dude those few gain riffs you did with the tapping and stuff, you gotta do a tutorial on that man, it was so sick!

I just bought this guitar, it's perfect for me, I also have an american fender strat and a Gibson les paul studio but I can't get my hands off this one!
Kinda disappointed they didn't make the 7 string in this color as well.

I love those Ibanez models that use the same type of easy access Trussrod Caps.Also love the build the maple top and mahogany body built nice and thin.The awesomeness of the 3 piece neck with bubinga. I'd like a tone control and I also LOVE the EBONY fingerboard but please it's hard to see when you've got a dark stage before or during the gigs. Hence it would be the perfect AXE for me and I'd bet tons of others if the thing had some nice inlays in the fingerboard. Just my most humble of opinion for the jazz fusion, blues and rocker in me.

Back in the 90s If Ibanez made a guitar like this it would have been a dream come true.
You could only get these trough their custom shop and it would cost an arm a leg and two kidneys.

Sounded fantastic through the Carvin V3M Amp, which is my "Upgrade Guitar Amp" choice - I'm primarily a Bassist/Chapman Stickist and that's where most of my Gear Purchases go to... but I'm thinking the V3M would sound great on the "Melody Side" of a Stick™ Rig!
Also, now that the Ibanez is also available with an "Edge-Zero II" double-locking tremolo, that's an additional plus in my book, although I really would love to be able to play this and a Jackson Dinky DK2 or SoCal which might fit my hand better compared to the ultra-thin Ibanez.
Wish they still made these in the one piece mahogany body like my s540. I'm not a big "bling" fan so some solid colors or burst like the originals would be super :)

The first few seconds the tone was thin and brittle, at about 1:10, it was like fuuuuucckk. Killer. Love that instrument.

haha - yes, I love the gain tones as well. The Dimarzios are so articulate. I love them. With that said - I was digging the clean. Very crisp, especially when tapped.
Wish they would have used the 'cosmo' (A.K.A. black chrome) hardware.

Almost a perfect guitar. I would have loved fret markers and a tone knob. Maybe some people don't want those things anymore? What do you people think?
NYCGoalie no fret markers looks way better and I only ever crank up the tone so not having it is fine
The only thing I'd change is to put the Ibanez "swoosh" back on the headstock. Otherwise killer all around.
Mine just came in today and I swear the fingerboard is rosewood. Doesn't look ebony at all.

My only criticism of the guitar is the dedicated coil tap switch. Why couldn't they make the volume knob push-pull for the coil tap instead?
Because push-pull-pots feel horrible and are less reliable than a separate switch and pot.
Todesnuss - That's fair I guess. To me, I just don't like the position of the coil tap as it'll get in the way of my hand when I'm picking. Some people like it (Petrucci's guitars have several knobs there), but I prefer to have it out of the way.

Thanks Andy. I love it too. I actually like the dedicated switch. It's a change. I've seen Push/Push, as found on my Acacia. Not that I've ever had a problem, but some people complain that push/pull - they accidentally PUSH, when they don't mean to, or can't PULL when they need to (sweaty hands from a long set, etc.).
***** - I could see that, but I prefer less stuff to fiddle with on my guitars. Volume, toggle switch, and that's about it. But that's just me :D

Yes. Definitely one of the most versatile guitars. I play deathmetal, surf, and blues. Guitar can do it all.

Ibanez, why is there no neck volute??? It's pretty much needed on all tiltback headstocks....
It's a third bubinga so it's probably not necessary.
neck volutes are back in the old days fella,,, not needed these days if the neck woods. truss rod and build are good enough

Nathan C they do that on all of the S series, I’m assuming it’s because they know that it’ll get dinged up and look bad, so better to leave it unpainted

They make a 7 string version but it only comes in the grey to black burst variant of this paintjob, still looks great though.
it will probably eventually come, just like the brown RGD 6 sting and the blue 7 string, now they have 6 and 7s for both

PLEASE HELP - should i buy this, the prs se mark holcomb, or the jericho elite ? I'm going for a monuments/periphery style metal. I feel like the jericho has the most bang for your buck, but idk

***** I just noticed there is some we get exclusively as well. Reall weird. A lot of brands have different lineups over here though. Schecter for example doesn't have the more classic looking stuff (like the j plus) in continental europe, we can get those form UK though. I also just saw some ibanez models at some european dealers even though it doesn't show up on the european ibanez site.
