I'm really surprised so few Americans are familiar with this Dianne Reeves' jazz anthemn Better Days. It was a big hit in the Philippines in the early 90s.

Man, I'm glad you got the gist of this song. Others I've heard react to this just touched on Gigi's singing and not really listened to the song. Just like you cried, I cried also, but uncontrollably. The funny thing is I don't know why I did. I think it was because the story was sad yet uplifting like you said, because through faith and patience we will see Better Days. You should hear Dianne Reeves (it's her song) sing it for a different perspective.
Gigi fully understands the spirit in which a song was written and conveys that spirit in her covers. Often better than the original. She is looking for a composer to help write original material. I can’t wait.
Please be sad no more. This is a temporary world. I was devastated and lost last 2013 when 3 of my dear beloved elders departed from this world. The one who left is at PEACE (equates with rested, fulfilled, happy, no more pain) and the one who was left behind is saddened, BUT WE ALL KNOW THAT NONE OF THE PEOPLE WE LOVE AND WHO LOVED US DOESN'T WISH US SADNESS. May your heart be filled with comfort and have a great great days ahead.

Last month, Gigi and her band opened their livestream with “Butterfly” that they dedicated to 2 of their friends who recently passed away.❤️
