    G'Day Folks. Here's a bit of a catch up looking at a few plants down the back as well as how the "Aquaponics" is going now that the renovations have started on our house.
    Will be bringing a few plants around the corner to our rental & will do a quick look at them in the coming weeks as well.
    Hope you enjoy this update on the patch/renovations & that your gardens are booming.
    Cheers all. 🐟 🌱🍅

      Thanks for the update Rob, we drove past yesterday and could see your construction zone in progress. Still looks like you're busy growing too! Fingers crossed your lush food forest makes it through. Oh p.s. I'm having a second flush of limes as well, happy days!

    Yes you will lose power with the long cables. Great to see your moving forward mate. Might try some ginger in the greenhouse next year if I get her going early inside I might just get a crop.
    Cheers Dave

      Am hoping my dad still has a few of his old site cords Dave. These last ones weren't cheap. 😕
      I'd think you'd get a small bit of growth out of them in the greenhouse. 👍
      Am off around the corner now to water the patch.
      Cheers mate and all the best.

    Thanks for the update Rob, looks like everything is moving along nicely with the renos 👍
    Even with all the current disruption, the garden looks happy. The sunshine chilli is producing really well, the coffee looks set to give you a great harvest, and that okinawa spinach looks like it's planning to take over the world 😉
    Hopefully the disruption isn't taking too much of a toll on yourself and the family, but just think once it's over and you are back at the old homestead, you will soon forget the disruption and be able to relax and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Be well Rob (and family), take care, and thanks for the update 😃👍

      The house is now lifted & all the stumps have been removed. 👍
      Popped around there a hour or so ago & it looks like they will have all the soil removed that needs to go & a few of the new stumps in by the end of the week.
      Hope all's well with you MACF. 👍🙂

    Hey rob just get a bigger gauge extension cable. That will cover the voltage drop

    You inspire me to at least try to grow my own ginger and turmeric! I dont want to buy these from China or even India since they have heavy metal contamination in their soils. (say what we want against the EPA, the bottom line is if it weren't for the EPS, we would have the same heavy metals in our soils, water and air ---and crops, right?) So thanks for some inspiration to grow at home!

      Nice one Edward. 👍 Haven't roasted the beans yet but will be including a look at how they go in a future clip.
      Since growing our own turmeric, we hardly ever use powdered turmeric anymore. Fresh just taste so much better.
      Cheers & have fun growing mate. 🌱🌱

      I think most will Jo Ann. The Vegepod has been knocked off of one of its footings but looks OK otherwise. 👍

      Nice one n k. 👍👍
      I tried them a few years ago but they didn't do so well. It was before the wicking beds & I think I killed them with lack of water.
      Will have a crack at growing them again though.
      Happy Growing.

    Will you be getting power permanently installed for the aquaponics as part of the reno? I thought you said yes in a previous video but can't quite remember now. You could get a heavier duty extension cord (with thicker wires in it) to reduce the power loss but not worth it if you'll end up with power down there after the reno.

    • @RobsAquaponics
      @RobsAquaponics  5 років тому +1

      There is permanent power there already but the lines needed to be cut due to slab going in Vink. I'm going to check with my dad to see if he has a cord that will do a better job when I see him tomorrow.
      Hope all's well with you and yours.
      Cheers 👍😊

    I have a lot of turmeric this year but it has not bloomed this year. Will the tubers be fertile to grow new turmeric shoots next year?

    • @RobsAquaponics
      @RobsAquaponics  5 років тому

      Some varieties won't bloom in cooler climates. If your soil doesn't freeze there you may get away with leaving some in for next seasons crop. 👍You'll find rhizomes left in the soil will generally start off sooner than freshly planted ones. The ginger in this week's clip is a great example of this. 👍 Will be live on UA-cam in about 14 hours.
      Hope that helps some & happy growing. 🌱

    What variety of coffee plant/s?

    • @RobsAquaponics
      @RobsAquaponics  5 років тому

      It's a Dwarf Catui Darren that we picked up from Daleys Fruit. 👍 Is only supposed to grow to about 2m/6ft tall.
