    This is the perfect headlamp. I’ve grown tired of complicated operations on flashlights, and I never use strobe modes etc. I bought this for attic inspections and the flood is perfect for iPhone photos in an attic. Now I can use all the 18650 batteries from my disposable Chinese/Amazon (Chamazon) headlamps to power a quality device.

    I have one, it's my best too. What he didn't say is it's got a 6ft drop rating which is twice normal. The other guys will cover it when you walk around on your kneepads, yeah. It's a corner cutting industry, and so companies fail left and right. This one's the best you can get. Right about a hundred bucks. Figure 20 bucks a year over 5 years. Mine won't fail in 20 years, I just feel it. It's a permanent light. Slam dunk solid purchase.

    Got the PD40R , LR80R and wear the HL55 on my wildland fire helmet , one thing that fenix could do is make a NOMEX option for the helmet strap . This is a follow up to my earlier post. It’s 11/7/21. I absolutely love this headlamp. It’s easy to use. I don’t need strobe or flashing options. I just it to light my work area when I’m working where lighting is poor. It’s my favorite headlamp. Awesome. I’ve been using headlamps for 20 years. This is my favorite. My hierarchy of headlamps is This Fenix model, Armytek ( great flood lamps) and Nitecore.

    Hi there, I also have this one, well the European version, it the Super raptor with the improved driver circuit. i also reviewed it for caving. I'd say it's not a bad light at all but it gets very hot. For caving this doesn't matter since the caves i'm in are a constant 10C air temp and also the water is also 10C, so the body stays cool but i would not want to do a night time trek in summer wearing this as I think it would over heat and switch off.

  • @BruteWillis

    Neutral white light is way better for your eyes than "cool or cold" white which is bad for your eyes if you use a headlamp for a longer period of time (multiple hours). Luckily Fenix changed this on the HM65R-T as the HM65R only had cool white LED's, but they only changed the flood light to neutral white which is kind of a bummer to me. The spot light is still cool white. While Fenix target runners and Trail runners with this expensive headlamp they should have realize that cool white is actually bad for your eyes. And yes a missing red LED is unfortunate too.

    Had that new 65 completely crap out on me the second night I used it night fishing but I had my HL with me as backup so didn't matter. I returned it the next day to my fishing store and bought 4 more HL60R's in case they discontinue the model.
    I never asked if they figured out what went wrong with the 65 though.

    Solid overview - I have n earlier Fenix version @ 1000 lmn. Has the top strap as well, but this is a nice step up in run times and output. QQ - have you noticed if the battery charges more effectively when charged on a separate charger vs integral charger? Maybe that impacts the earlier units - but curious if you experienced the same.

    @WrongDemographic 3 роки тому +6

    I do like Fenix stuff, but would be a little concerned about the adjustment mechanism. Seems overly complex and prone to getting crap jammed in the mechanism. What I'd really like to see is a way to angle the spot and flood LEDs separately! Low flood to light the area under my feet while having the spot more horizontal for route finding.

    • @Walt_Kowalsky
      @Walt_Kowalsky 3 роки тому +2

      Yup. It looks cheap and soon or later will break down. How often do you adjust it? Once set is enough for its lifetime. Even when needed to be worn on helmet or thick winter hat it takes 3 seconds to adjust it if the band won't expand itself enough. IMHO stupid system.

    What did I miss about hm65r-t having 1500 total lumen when clearly 400 flood 1300 spotlight = 1700. That’s how it’s measured on old model 400 plus 1000 = 1400. So, alternate universe?

      Been using Boa on ski boots and work boots for a few years. No issues other than it creaking or looseing up sometimes. They do warrant there product. You would literally have to cut the wire with cutters to snap it.

    How is the button press with gloves on? I wear leather gloves at work and I actually need to change light modes frequently. Having to take a glove off would be a deal breaker. My current headlamp is the nitecore hc65. It works great but, it only has spot light. Having the ability to use flood as well as spot would be ideal.

    • @banknote501

      The buttons are big enough and have a clicky pressure point. Works with gloves on.
