May I suggest his Love Music Quad? They are fun, bumpy and full of lyrical mastery. There's even a full Bond film scheme in Love Music, Pt. 2. So much fun. People find Ren exactly when they should. We can share him however it can be disappointing when it doesn't hit because they are not yet ready. There's so many paths to Ren and all of them are glorious.

It's mystifying to me when I recommend Hi Ren to someone, they watch it, and then they're like, "Yeah, that was good" ... and then they just continue on with their lives as if something momentous hadn't just happened. Like, how do you not want to immediately know everything there is to know about this man?!

I am lucky to have one person who gets him, I shared Seven Sins with an old friend who lives on the other side of the country, who also has a chronic illness, and she said "it was like a punch in the gut and I LOVED IT." I think anyone who's had extensive pain, physical and/or mental, can relate to it deeply.

As a french canadien I haven't found many friend to share Ren with, I guess it's why I'm so addictited to the reaction 🤪 I'll be ready to share his music with every one, but it seam that you have to be in a particular state of minde and openness to get Ren. I don't know, I don't have any mental or physical health probleme (thank god), but I have friend and famelly who have so I connect to Ren's music too. The world need his music. You're right that listening to Ren can be deeply personal and it brings your vulnerability to the surface. I tried to share Hi Ren with my mum (who I have a pretty good relationship with usually) and she dismissed it saying "I don't think I would be entertained by that"... and it shocked me how much it hurt me. First - she made a judgement and didn't give it a chance, which is her loss. But the worse thing was the feeling that she had dismissed me wanting to share the profound impact it had on my soul. I felt personally rejected by one of the most important people in my life, who I was trying to connect with in a really important way. So now I just don't share Ren with anyone except people I don't know on the internet because I can't handle the pain 😆But it's nice to find the reciprocity of souls here in the youtube reactor community.
Oh man I feel that, for some reason it's practically impossible to get anyone to listen to or read something that's important to you, even if it's relatively short. I think it hurts especially bc I take time to consume anything someone mentions as being important or formative for them -- I feel like there are few better ways to really get a glimpse of someone's soul.
I had the same thing happen to me - I asked someone who was like a sister to me to watch it, and they didn't. I asked several times over a year, saying it was impactful and I thought she would really enjoy it, and it would mean a lot to me if she watched it, and she could never be bothered. Yeah, I stopped mentioning anything about him to her about 6 months ago. I also stopped telling her a lot of things and have pulled back considerably. Or should I say, I'm putting as much into the relationship as she is now.

Weirdly, part of me thinks maybe it's a good job she didn't watch Hi Ren... she might have told me she hated it 😆 that actually would have been worse! I have been nagging my wife to watch his music with me because, as a musician, I just know she'd love Ren. But our musical tastes have diverged quite a bit so she'd pat me on the head and say "that's nice, dear." Well, I brought up Ren and she said she had done some research and he seems to be the real deal so tonight, VIDEOS FINALLY!
The thing where you don't know if someone listens to Ren or not.....for me, it is so personal...and the other side of that is when I have tried to speak to someone about him and they just really don't care, it's kind of soul crushing. They can like what they like, but when there is such a strong personal connection to his music, it does feel a bit like a rejection of oneself when someone just doesn't care to even give it a listen. So I save it for sharing with the Renegades.

I adore you. When I first saw Hi Ren, I was with my husband. When it was over we were both silent for a bit, then at the same time we both said "whoa." I'm so grateful we did this Ren journey together. I live in bed, with autoimmune disease and MCAS, like Ren. I have ankylosing spondylitis, so it's slightly different, but not by much. My spine and pelvis are turning all the tendons and ligaments that touch them to bone. It's been excruciatingly painful, but my hubby has been by my side the entire time. He takes care of me. He makes me feel like a princess, and I'm so incredibly lucky to have him. He tells me he's lucky to have me, but I have a hard time seeing that. I do know he loves me though. No matter what happens, or how much pain I'm in, I still feel lucky. I wouldn't trade places with someone else for anything. We also made two incredible humans, one is 22, the other will be 18 on Friday. If the only thing I ever did was raise these two incredible humans, then I'm happy with that. So glad you found Ren, we all find him when it's time. When we need him for whatever reason, there he is. And whenever you are ready to share with us, we will be here for you. We love you as part of the Renegade family.

This is such a beautiful and haunting song. It's meant to be haunting because it's about being haunted by grief that you can't escape. The Chapters leading up to the release of Troubles was such a beautiful work he did because he didn't want anyone to ever go through what he did and feel as alone as he did. So he told his story. As far as what to listen to. . . All of it. Another song he did for Joe was Freckled Angles. Animal Flow is an upbeat one with a fun one shot. Uninvited is a bop. Ren does "pop love song" but so good and a lot different from what he usually does. As for Big Push my favourite busking session is War Pig (but more cause it's Ren) and Sweet Little Lady 💜 Came back to add. . . 7 Sins. That is all

If you haven't already seen it, Chinchilla's live version of "Fingers" is worth a watch. Her voice is amazing. As others have mentioned below, for a lighter side of Ren, his retake of Losing It is brilliant, What You Want is a Beastie Boys homage, and another one-take masterpiece is The Hunger. Actually, literally anything on his channel tbh.
If you are ready for it, 'Crutch' with Bibi is an early one from 2015 and on Ren's Freckled Angel album. It is a heavy one from before he found out he had Lyme. It might come close to home though so make sure you are in a good place. 'Power' is a lighter one to do. I hope Ren will be back in Brighton when you move there. My husband is a deeply sensitive person and a real music lover. He also had his fair share of traumas in life. Thinking he would be the perfection candidate, I put together a Ren playlist for him, hoping Ren would help him process some of that crap he’s dealing with. So he watched 2 clips, and thought it was good… and jumped right at playing all his music while going about his business. I’m so disappointed that he didn’t take the time to feel it :-( I guess it wasn’t the right moment for him.😞
I love Ren and the songs "hi ren" and "the tale of Jenny and Screech" went straight to my heart. But I have to say (I know it's an unpopulair opinion) the rest doesn't get me as much. I love Ren's story and the way he is, but I haven't found another song yet that hit me as hard as the other ones. But I will keep following him and his songs, for he is an amazing artist/performer/story teller ❤
I can’t believe I’m gonna stray from Ren for a moment. But it would be nice for you to see a bit of Chinchilla’s work - she wears the nails for “armor” to fend off her stage fright. She has one massive banger (amongst many) called “Little Girl Gone” and it has a really great music video where she’s badass. She’s also an independent artist and self produces like Ren. They (she and Ren) have also busked together and she loved it - was a new phenomenon for her and she jumped in with him so well. But, yeah, give Little Girl Gone video a watch one day. I think what you're feeling is a deep personal connection with Ren. It may seem unbelievable that someone you don't know and who doesn't know you can make you feel this way. How can an artist touch you like this? You know it's true within yourself and it is something that you can't imagine anyone else feels. Each of us are surprised that another person feels Ren as deeply as we do. You'll get used to this phenomenon quickly. Ren transcends the human experience, affects us and joins us at a deep level. This is such a beautiful and haunting song. It's meant to be haunting because it's about being haunted by grief that you can't escape. The Chapters leading up to the release of Troubles was such a beautiful work he did because he didn't want anyone to ever go through what he did and feel as alone as he did. So he told his story. As far as what to listen to. . . All of it. Another song he did for Joe was Freckled Angles. Animal Flow is an upbeat one with a fun one shot. Uninvited is a bop. Ren does "pop love song" but so good and a lot different from what he usually does. As for Big Push my favourite busking session is War Pig (but more cause it's Ren) and Sweet Little Lady 💜

If you haven't already seen it, Chinchilla's live version of "Fingers" is worth a watch. Her voice is amazing. As others have mentioned below, for a lighter side of Ren, his retake of Losing It is brilliant, What You Want is a Beastie Boys homage, and another one-take masterpiece is The Hunger. Actually, literally anything on his channel tbh.

If you are ready for it, 'Crutch' with Bibi is an early one from 2015 and on Ren's Freckled Angel album. It is a heavy one from before he found out he had Lyme. It might come close to home though so make sure you are in a good place. 'Power' is a lighter one to do.

My husband is a deeply sensitive person and a real music lover. He also had his fair share of traumas in life. Thinking he would be the perfection candidate, I put together a Ren playlist for him, hoping Ren would help him process some of that crap he’s dealing with.
So he watched 2 clips, and thought it was good… and jumped right at playing all his music while going about his business. I’m so disappointed that he didn’t take the time to feel it :-( I guess it wasn’t the right moment for him.😞

I love Ren and the songs "hi ren" and "the tale of Jenny and Screech" went straight to my heart. But I have to say (I know it's an unpopulair opinion) the rest doesn't get me as much. I love Ren's story and the way he is, but I haven't found another song yet that hit me as hard as the other ones. But I will keep following him and his songs, for he is an amazing artist/performer/story teller ❤
I can’t believe I’m gonna stray from Ren for a moment. But it would be nice for you to see a bit of Chinchilla’s work - she wears the nails for “armor” to fend off her stage fright. She has one massive banger (amongst many) called “Little Girl Gone” and it has a really great music video where she’s badass. She’s also an independent artist and self produces like Ren. They (she and Ren) have also busked together and she loved it - was a new phenomenon for her and she jumped in with him so well. But, yeah, give Little Girl Gone video a watch one day. I’d love to see your reaction to it.
That said, great reaction. And I will always love your Ren reactions. A quick alert though: if you venture into his diss track called “Kujo Beatdown” try to get the back story first as it makes the viewing clearer.

I think what you're feeling is a deep personal connection with Ren. It may seem unbelievable that someone you don't know and who doesn't know you can make you feel this way. How can an artist touch you like this? You know it's true within yourself and it is something that you can't imagine anyone else feels.
Each of us are surprised that another person feels Ren as deeply as we do. You'll get used to this phenomenon quickly.
Ren transcends the human experience, affects us and joins us at a deep level. It's simple but wonderous thing that Ren's music does.
