That's very kind of you! But most people don't do it! When you tell someone you don't understand, they'll probably speak louder, but at the same speed and using the same words... When the problem is probably that they're speaking too fast, or have used vocabulary you don't understand!
Great suggestions Lexie, thanks. In addition to listening and writing what was spoken, i also read the final transcription out loud, allowing me to do all 4 communication methods, listening, speaking, reading and writing. Cheers, Tom

Mérci beaucoup! This makes so much more sense to break it down as a beginner! I have been watching La Maison on Apple TV and have been trying to do this by switching it from French to English subtitles, but it would be easier to do it this way! I can recognize words and I get excited. Thanks Lexie! ❤

@@kauyejokauyejo8691 Like I explained in the video, most of the time the problem is a lack of practice. Also, when it comes to listening practice, focus and repetition are very important, and like everything, the more you do it, the easier it gets! Don't forget that everyone who is fluent in a second language was once a complete beginner. Have a wonderful New Year's Eve. 🍾🥂✨
These are excellent tips! Thank you so much. I'd have just one small suggestion: be careful with the pronunciation of "focus" in English. The "o" must sound like the "eau" in French as in "beau". The danger in English is that the "o" acquires a schwa sound, which would then render it as "f**ck us" - not the outcome you want. Many thanks again for these excellent suggestions!
I'm glad you found the tips helpful Joe! Thanks for clearly explaining the pronunciation of “focus”, without being critical or condescending, I really appreciate it. Happy New Year 🥂🫶✨

Talking like what? Like a highly intelligent woman with drive and passion and a desire to share her knowledge with others for free? Ask better questions.
Who taught you to speak English? The video would be more appealing and effective if your speech wasn't so stilted, clipped and slow; it's really very tedious to listen to, for a native English speaker.
❓🤔 Would you like me to make a similar video on how to dramatically improve your speaking and conversation skills?
S’il vous plaît 💙

I make the effort to speak slowly to people in real life when talking to foreigners. It is called being nice and considerate. 🙂
