So any idea on the loss of cam timing? Water pump not seized and timing belt intact. You mentioned belt was loose. Belt tensioner failure? So belt skipped a tooth or two, knocking the timing out?
Ultimately the engine is a write off but it’s always good to know the cause of failure.

Yeah, replaced head and exhaust manifold.

Should have removed the headbolts

I did in the end- pulled them before without having to remove them fully, plus it was funny standing on the engine 😂
