Played Spyder a LOT in hs and college. Late 90s. So many drumlines had their own version so it was always a challenge to "out spyder" the other lines. I loved the expressions on the other faces in the line, when I'd turn around and yell Spyder! SPYDER!!! lol
Check out Missouri State Drumlines version of spider Good morning! I am afraid I have gotten a stomach bug or something. I cannot stop throwing up and it is making my day quite miserable. I'm hoping I will be able to function again tomorrow. Thank you! Sincerely, Dillyn J Hurtt
We would play this when I was in high school in the late '80s. We had a different cymbal part and the melody on the quads was more noticeable in our version. Nice job though, especially with so many pieces.
We used to have back in the early 90's what was called "The Series". For us it was what we called Spider and Hosed Spider. This was the Hosed Spider part we used to play. Wish someone besides Oklahoma State University had it recorded.
Yup, "Spider" was written by Suncoast Sound's caption head. JSU had a pretty sick version they called "Speeder." I was wondering if anyone had a link to the original (video and/or score).
Original Spider written by Ken Watts and Jack Starling. Al Murray modified it into the two versions best known. “Jungle Love” was ‘86 SS cadence that Al later took to BAC.
Spyder was big in the 80's and 90's. Parts have have changed some, but you always know that bass line.
programmed wrong yeah, ours has 3 rim shots after the first bass line and it sounds so epic
We do spyder still, just a bit different

Nice, very snare heavy version. The one I marched to in the 90's as horn player was more drums but awesome snare and quad features
Love 80s Suncoast Sound and Magic of Orlando :)
Not many people know about that!!!

My dad told me how they played this a lot back then. And his school used to call it Spiderman. Though some parts have been changed.
University of Memphis has same cadence
Ty Tg aye shout out to Memphis hell yeah!
And the Bartlett high school drumline
Actually like my high schools version better
1985 "Spider" from Suncoast Sound or 1990 "Jungle Love" from the Boston Crusaders are still the best versions.

Nice version.
And old classic
At 0:12 are the basses playing hand to hands I can't tell
When I first heard it though it was supposed to be a split herta, but now I'm now sure cause there was hand to hands later in the cadence.
Split hertas off the right
