Convering every frame of the video to a picture is really wasteful. It shouldn't alter the frames or sound and just skip on the video timeline seekbar by itself. Analysing audio in the video player's buffered sections and speedup silence in real-time.
Right? That's why I abandoned my last 3 videos. Because I had WAY too much silence to edit out and also these assholes of filler words in it. If you gave it all together, it's just way to much editing work and I personally couldn't bother doing it
That's actually a really good way of thinking about it! It also lets us think about more ways you could measure "content awareness" for audio more intelligently - like, detecting speech even when it's quiet, instead of just plain loudness.

I do not think you would be able to sell the code. The code consist of 233 lines, which is about an hour of work, +/- 30 minutes (depends a lot on skills of the programmer). Maybe you would be able to sell this as an app (compiled code), but I know why carykh did not. *Many, many* programmers put lot of effort to make free (and hopefully open source) apps - it's because they want to help other people... I have the same issue of a lot of empty space in lecture recordings, but also a lot of foreign lectures who i find hard to understand on 2x speed so currently I compromise to 1.5x speed but I keep remembering this project that would be perfect for my scenario. Some professors in my university also upload (and live-stream!) their lectures. I had 29 videos of 1:30 hrs each to sit through for the last few days, that's like 43:30 hours And it was discrete math, really boring shite YAY best time of my life!!!!!
The stop motion application is actually brilliant for students who cant afford to get a remote shutter for a camera. I personally would never use it for its jump cut function just bc I would want to be more nuanced in the editing.

To get the requirments i’ve found it easy by opening terminal then (ubuntu 18.04 lts) 1. sudo apt install python-pip 2. pip install Pillow 3. pip install scipy 4. pip install audiotsm 5. pip install numpy 6. pip install pytube (If this is something obvious let me know i’m new to ubuntu)
You can install all of the packages in one command: pip install Pillow scipy audiotsm numpy pytube And what do you mean by new to Ubuntu? This is Python, it runs on any operating system.

@@forrequu It's usually best to try to find the required packages in the Ubuntu repos, or use *pip install --user ...* (which will install to _~/.local/_ in your home directory).¹
Whatever you do, never use *sudo pip ...* - It will make a mess in _/lib/_ that will stay unless you clean it up manually, b/c the system package manager (apt) doesn't know about it. (Everything in _/bin_, _/lib_ & _/usr_ (except _/usr/local/_ ) should be managed by the system package manager.)
It's not a tragedy if it happens; but if you want to keep it clean & update properly, you'll have to find the files that apt doesn't know about & uninstall them with pip, or delete them.
¹ (Ideally the developer of the Python app writes it to use a virtual environment that installs everything to its own folder; but often they don't.)

I TOTALLY love it. This is how a hacker needs to think. You solve your 10h problem in 40h yea. But you saved humanity 1000000h of while watching useless silence parts of videos. I watch all videos in 2.5x and having hard time to understand people so you saved me. My wife learns Japanese while watching videos with people speaking at 0.7x and spends HOURS wathing silences at 0.7x. This will save here.
