To answer your question 5:46, yes you can. By holding E the dino will begin to buck free from the grip. The younger the deino is the less time is needed to break free. If you look back at the footage a few seconds before you can see the teno kicking and shaking its head up and down. However the game doesn't tell you this in the same way when you get pounced by a utah, somost don't know about this.
Hey islander, im really fed up with the official servers and all the toxicness. Deino megapacks that patrol the river with the intention of griefing every other solo deino player not to mention all the mixpackers that do the same thing on land and your server looks great but are these things something i should expect on your server aswell? If not then you my friend just received a friendly new player that is very dedicated to every players well being and every player having fun while playing this game.

The grab only works if it's not too small or too big for your current growth stage, like with the Pachy if you're able to bite it to grab it then the lounge grab won't work properly & usually will go through it or drop it immediately.
When a player is grabbed they can struggle to get free, so you have to be quick to get them in deep water - you can also left click while holding them to do more damage but be sure you're HOLDING down your right mouse button when you grab because the second you let go of right click then your deino will release it's prey.
The Tento was roughly the same size as you & is why the grabbed worked on it but if you didn't let go of your right mouse button then that means it wiggled & broke free. The Pachy & Ptera both were much smaller then you so that's why the lounge grab didn't work properly, similar to the Pachy if you would have left clicked on the Ptera instead then you would have snatched it into your mouth like you did with the Pachy.
Been playing the idle since it was first launched YEARS ago :) so I hope this information I provided helps you & anyone else who may be reading this!
Ok you're losing grip due to your size, the smaller deinos will lose grip over time. You can counter this by taking them away from shore and staying just slightly under water. When they break just grab them again and repeat
Ohhh okay!
No matter what your size once something is "lunge grabbed" you'll start losing "stam/ap"
To avoid missing the lunge. You want to be further back. The start up animation misses all the time. You want to hit them at the end of it. Doing this also allows you to get them in the water sooner.

Regarding the Deino lunge letting go of people, iirc in the last update there was a bug I encountered where if you physically rest on the bottom the Deino liked to let go of whatever it had. It might still be a thing but I'm not entirely sure. Ik what I did in the last update was just not rest on the bottom and it usually did me well enough to not drop people

@@Mumpinator please join Islanders discord to make sure you are familiar with their rules for semi-realism. The biggest thing to follow is only hunt when you're hungry and there's no bodies already around, if you are carnivores. And pack limits. But there are some other things to familiarize yourself with as well.

Don't worry, you're not the only one who kept on failing to catch stuff. I had to only hunt fish, live off scraps of food and the occasional daft Pteranodon. I rarely got tenotos ;-;

Ive noticed the "S-FPS" being really low, this may cause alot of the bugs as that stat is literally "Server FPS"
I believe the isle is working on it, should be fixed next hot fix :D
I see that the Deino lunge has gotten the "Utah pounce" treatment in recent updates. Hopefully they fix that desync soon. 😂

Deinosuchus is underrated. You can literally get anything drinking and then move bodies of water to make them desperate. They would either die from you or dehydration- so-

My deino experience was 6 hours of friendly deinos and eating fish and not seeing any drinking animals. Then when I was full adult I was eaten by 3 deinos. Can't say it was great fun but I kinda liked the stress of growing more

You might have killed a member of our herd, that teno looked like Tuatara. If you at one point saw a herd of 8 adults tenos then that was us.
i have never had this issue but im never on the buttom either just enough to be free floating then hold your right mouse button lunges you alot further than when you are kind of hippo walking on bottom etc
The Deino, the only dino I have yet to live long enough to even get to where diets matter due to all the other Deino's nomming me. >.>

im new to the game and the only dino ive ever gotten to max is a dryo but somehow a few days ago i got a max deino and to be honset it felt kinda easy.
Only attack when hungry or defensive or move like ceep them away when got nest

Again you missed because youre trying to grab with the front of the lunge, you missed because of server desync, you can see the carno move slightly after you lunge. You want to grab with the END of the lunge, youre getting TOO close. Practice it.

As a deino main with 200+ hours that initial grab in the opening scene was poorly executed, if you grab at the end of the bite and hold left you can snatch them and return to water without needing to do a 90 turn

One day I was playing as a full adult deinosuchus. I was having so much fun. Then I stepped away from the keyboard and was reminded just how pig headed isle players can be. I came back and it was dead. 🤬 you could imagine how angry I was when I realised i had to start all over again.

There is no way your getting out of the second strongest bite force in animal history if it's not a bug
I have played on your server but every time server is full the ping is always hige. Played there yesterday, got attacked by carnos but i couldnt even fight because of the ping. One more thing, at 8:02 you said your admins regrow him. Isnt that a little unfair? Its a part of the game to die, why let him get full adult again just because you killed him? Why cant he just grow that pachy back like everyone else have to do?
The Isle is busy working on fixing the ping problem, unfortunately until they fix that we can't do much about it :( It's just something I like to do, it's only when I kill people though.
