    Awesome video! How many miles do you have on your truck? I've got the same truck at about 150k miles. I've got a cracked valve cover and cannot find an OEM replacement anywhere. Thinking about trying an aluminum Mitzone replacement, but having trouble finding specific F-150 reviews for that brand.

    • @Higgsgarage
      @Higgsgarage  8 місяців тому

      Thank you. Mine currently has around 129xxx. It was a pain to find replacement covers at the time of this video. I don’t know if they have gotten easier or not. I did not see any aluminum ones when I was searching back when I was doing this repair but if you could find a reputable company that made some that would be nice. I think if I could I would still stick with oem if I could though.

    • @Higgsgarage
      @Higgsgarage  Рік тому

      Sounds like that bolt is broken or the threads are stripped out. You would need to remove the cover to see what needs to be done to repair it.

    Are there any seals on the fuel pump that should be replaced? I know the valve cover comes with one for the spacer but is there another on the actual pump? Also it looks like there might be 2 o-ring seals where the bolt holes are?

    I noticed an oil leak on my 2013 Ford F150 Ecoboost 3.5L and it got worse to the point where the smell of oil was in the cab and it was dripping on the garage floor, took it to the Ford Dealer. They told me it was my driver side valve cover. Well I decided after watching the video that I would replace the valve cover. In your video you spent time working on the front lower bolt but you didn't explain what the problem was or how you got the bolt off. We only saw the back of your head the whole time. I see it's a bracket that is over the bolt and it doesn't look easy to get to the bolt. Also you explained to get the bolts at the back of the valve cover to just fill for them. Well I did but there is a wiring harness over the bolts and I can't even get to them. I'm taking a break right now but probably will wish that I just had taken it to the dealer. Don't know how much they would charge probably $1000.00.

    • @Higgsgarage
      @Higgsgarage  10 місяців тому

      Bolts have the wiring harness attached via a plastic clip. It slides over the top you have to pop them off to get to the bolts. If your not comfortable or mechanical inclined I would not attempt to do any repairs on the vehicle.

      There is a bracket over that bottom front bolt. Looks like he pried the bracket off instead of removing the bolt/bolts from front of head.

    I have a 2013 F150 ecoboost as well and I keep seeing they changed the gaskets mid 2013 model year. Mine is supposed to be after the switch but I cant find a solid answer on which gasket part # is correct for the trucks made later in 2013. Do you know if you have the first or 2nd style and what the gasket part # would be?

      @timothysmith7309 yes that is. It calls for silicone where the timing cover meets the head between the valve cover and the head. Kinda hard to explain in text but you can see the meeting point on the video where the timing cover meets the head.
