My former teacher, John Blount, also studied with Maxwell. I still use his method book.

Ralph, coming from a lineage of great trumpet players from the 1800's to today (no i never went into that for a living like my and cousin) I have been around GREAT trumpet players my whole life (im 70) I loved the video. You hit on SO many things my dad would teach me at the dinner table and the few lessons I got from him. He was always working so very little tim to teach me. EVEYRTHING you pointed out I absorbed as a child. My dad came from a phenomenal era of great trumpet players from Providence in the 30's through through the hey days and quit playing around 1995 before his death. He played for EVERYONE worth playing for in show biz (except Sinatara and regarded at a top player along with others. I think there is so much for us to share. ITALIANS PLAY BEAUTIFLLY and I was taught TONE, BEAUTY, HEART, ST before being a technician. "Make your horn SING!" I heard that so much growing up. My grandfather came from Italy as a cornet soloist with the Creatore Band and Vessella Band in the early 1900's. I never wanted to be a pro though I worked with dad 100's of times. BUT I KNOW what good playing is and I know what good TEACHING of trumpet is I loved your video. It was a lesson my dad would have given me ...and did. Everything in it.
