cardouken Yeah, I just thought this was meant to be accurate re the escape. Thus, I wasn't sure if that dude was joking about Al Capone or if they weren't too fussy on details. What evs.
@@CyberLance26 It is possible that his name was changed for reasons in that Allen West was still alive. Filming began in October 1978, which took three and a half months (ending around mid-January). Allen West died in December 1978, just two months after filming began. I think it's similar to why Clarence Carnes' name was changed to Dan Durando in the Battle of Alcatraz TV movie "Six Against the Rock" in that Carnes was still alive when the film was made.
Al Capone was moved to Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary on June 23, 1936 Capone completed his term in Alcatraz on January 6, 1939 Since the Frank Morris escape happened in 1962, the real Al Capone couldn't have been there. However, in the seconds before this scene, Frank Morris (Clint Eastwood) just says "Hi Al" to another inmate. Possibly the inmate was just using the Capone name to frighten Charlie Butz?
Pffff wow some of you are complete boneheads...this movie no matter the case of what actually happend is 100% scripted and portayed by actors. Nothing you see in this movie is real.... NOTHING.
I don't get it though. This escape/movie was set in 1960 & Capone died in 1947. So are they just joking?
Emma Liess hence why he said "I thought you was dead."
