@onetwo8512 , Are we seeing the same fight? Tanquinho went to hall`s back, embedded an arm lock... hall passed a big part of the fight defending himself, and narrowly escaped of two finalizations (choke and transition to arm lock). Hall didn`t offer real danger in any moment of the fight. So, Tanquinho dominated the fight. Tanquinho beat Gui Mendes 8-0 last year? And Hall? What did he do? Who is the phenomenon here? (my English is terrible.... sorry the mistakes).
@onetwo8512 , I`ll answer with one word: Titles. If one day he beats the tops in his category (thing that he never made until now, not in BJJ), and get an important title, I`ll say he`s this phenomenon that some people say he is today. The career of any professional athlete or team is made of titles, important titles, and he didn`t do it until now and looking at fights like this I can say he`s far from it. But I respect deeply your opinion and let`s the future show us who`s right.
@WhtMike2006 , You`re right, but Tanquinho dominated totally the fight against Ryan Hall, what didn`t happen with the mendes brothers, for example. That`s the difference!!!
@ChafikiOne , Time is answering the questions: tanquinho vs hall at mundial... hall was totally destroyed, 8 x 0 and tapped. What did hall tryed to do during all the fight? The same thing he ALWAYS do: 50/50 guard. He never tries something different, every fight is the same thing... boring to see his fights. Good to his opponents, because they know exactly what he will try to do, and they are winning each time more easily. Or Hall ranges his fight stile or the "phenom" will become a joke.
to much tanquinho right? But hall didn't do that bad. You have to take into acount that Hall is quite weaker than Tanquinho and both are equally technical. Hall will improve give him a chance
Ryan Hall lost again... where`s the phenomenon? Ryan is not versatile, always do the same things... now the opponents know how to fight against him, but he doesn`t make any change, we can`t see evolution in his style of fight.
@ChafikiOne So Ryan, Jeff and Bill are revolutionizing BJJ? Tell me what they are doing differently and I concede your point... Are they engineers? Physicists? Are they scientists? A BJJer is something like a field engineer. He learns the best, most effective positions thru practice and practical analysis. BJJ also came from Judo, and since the beginnings of Judo it was aimed at the most effective use of one's power... so, I don't buy it as anything new, just marketing.

@onetwo8512 , I noticed you didn`t mention that ryan tapped at 2:52.

Ryan Hall vs Augusto "Tanquinho" Mendes
@nobreguga Tanquinho was on fire that day. He beat Ryan Hallm Ary Farias, Gui Mendes, Ed Ramos, and then Rafa Mendes.

@poganla123 Yes, he tapped.
tapped? that choke was nowhere near being finished.
@2:53 Ryan was not tapping, he was trying to free his arm from tanquinhos left foot.
@OffspringFTW65
Yeah for me its a tap, when Hall is getting choked, that looks quite obvious, not sure what refer was thinking
50/50 guard is the dumbest thing ive ever seen
