they are Tories. What on earth do you expect?
Venal, spivish, selfish. Party workers or ministers, or both?
I for one am shocked. Shocked I tell you. Who would have thought that a tory would use an unfair advantage to enrich themselves.
Edbuller4435 - I’ve seen the same from all parties over the years.
@@rsf5898 Remind us all, when did the Glib Dums give huge PPE contracts to their chums? When did Labour pay 39 billion to the spouse of one of their MPs for a computer system that did nothing? I missed those.
You in the UK should turn back the clock. Stocks and rotten tomatoes in the Town Square.
Selfish Tories. Shocked. Not shocked.
Greedy is good, Ayn Rand, no such thing as society.
Not surprised.
Where has Tim M been in the last few years? Wake up and smell the arses.
Only Tim Montgomerie is shocked. He doesn't know the Tories and neither do those naive volunteers.
What’s wrong with making a few quid on the side? This is peanuts compared to the dosh they scored on the pandemic PPE. Greed is good and there is no such thing as society, right? Money is their life!
"Spivvish" Tim Montgomerie said!
This is who the Tories are, and this is the type of people they attract. Just imagine the underhand corruption with our tax money over the last 14 years.
And they go on about benefit fraud? Their hypocrisy is shocking.
You don't have to look much further than the Covid trough for Friends of the Tories
This!! You can only imagine how the spivs at the top of Reform are planning to make "A nice few quid".
We are being ripped to shreds by these politicians.
So much WASTE of taxpayer money.
This is what the Tory party have done to the entire country for the last 14 years. A few bets is nothing compared to the VIP lane PPE contracts. Yet Montgomery is more angry about some betting companies losing a few hundred quid.
Cos this hurts the party not the country
Exactly. Politics like football teams is never gonna be good@@piccalillipit9211
He’s particularly angry because massive backhanders and corruption on the scale and type than Mone was up to her neck in don’t really connect with a lot of people. Insider knowledge and betting connects with almost everyone and TM knows it (I also think in fairness he’s genuinely appalled whereas Vaizey was a tad more equivocal)
this is completely in character for sunak. he literally made his money helping collapse the British economy. he has even spoken about how much he loves spread betting. he was never in politics for public service, he was in it for power, money and ego.
Tim I love your commentary but it’s like you just woke up from a 25 year trance and realized tories are disgraceful grifters…..where you been
Exactly what I've been thinking... Awkward when he is so shocked by Tory behaviour rather than the disgraceful explosion of child poverty under 14 years of Tory governance...
Yeh I know imagine shaking with rage at the sky being blue. Open your eyes this is what they are all about. Disgraceful.
@@benbreathwick5019 This is the man who said poor people don't need more money they just need more spiritual support
Just a couple of days ago Montgomerie said he'd vote of Nigel Farage. He's either a naïve idiot or his current tears are more about the fact the grifters got caught.
Busy grifting.
This is who the Tories are - the party of the self. Appalling that so many people are shocked by this
It's fascinating isn't it. These apologists reveal themselves over and over again, and seem entirely unaware that they're doing it. So Ed Vaisey, in his usual "bluff cove" persona, without a thought, immediately starts discounting what he claims to be appalled by. "We don't know the size of the bets". "The fact that this is a news story and has come out is terrible" etc. In other words, it's not a crime if you don't swindle too much and don't get caught!
Trustworthy Tories - you can always trust them to act reprehensibly
One wise person once told me! You don’t have to be rich to be a Tory! You just have to be selfish and greedy! Damn, they were spot on!!
What do you expect from the party that lacks honesty integrity and accountability get em out
It’s taken a bit of dodgy betting to get them to resign but hung around while Michelle Mone stuffed her handbag. Ffs.
There is no reason to "cut Sunak slack" - this is his government, his staff, his responsibility!
You are absolutely, totally and completely certain that Rishi Sunak knew nothing about this? A brave man you are.
Get the SQUATTING SUNAK out of Downing Street ASAP
Poundshop hedge fund managers. Rishi has taught them well. Shameful 😡
The Tory’s have been doing this kind of stuff for 14 years
They've been doing it since the Hamiltons.
Partygate anyone.?
They're shell-shocked? Why? That's who the Tories are.
Not so much crying over covid contracts and the fast lane. It's probably the small scale of the corruption that bothers these people.
Why are we even surprised...interesting how appalled we are over £100 illegal bets but didn't bat an eyelid over £billions stolen buying faulty PPE during COVID.
Call it KARMA! And KARMA has nowhere near finished with the Tories yet.
They are mad because they got caught
They should not be working hard for the party they should be working hard to do what’s best for the country. That’s what causes government failures like Sunak.
If Sunak told ANYONE who put a bet on then he has potentially broke the law and should be arrested.
It's not complicated. They're grifters because those are the Tories' values to their heart.
Sunak was also fined for PartyGate, so do not make him a saint!
Surprising really, he never gives the impression that he's the life and soul of the party, whether they are social or political ones.
curry gates ?
@@shaf3006 What?
Still would be interesting to see how much infosys have made with government contracts over the last couple of years
He turned up for a meeting. The presentation of a cake to Boris was reported to the press at the time .
How naive is Ed Vaizey to think that rich people aren't likely to "do anything untoward" to make money? How does he think most of them got rich in the first place?
The point is if your are a multi millionaire you won't compromise your reputation for 200 pounds.
@@vinay7397 if we've learned anything from the Tories, Farage and Trump, it's that grifters gonna grift. If you're a multi-millionaire, then instead of compromising your reputation for 200 pounds, you'll find a way to make it 200 thousand pounds instead.
@gvigary1 everyone is not a kleptomaniac, believe it or not rich people are a separate species. Bill Gates and his ilk are stealing toilet paper from public lavatories. I don't why I respond to online conspiracy theorist like you.
It's time for those stubborn Tory voters to abandon the party. The brand is absolutely destroyed and they will never be in power again.
Tories. They smell a grift and start drooling. Can’t help themselves.
Unacceptable behaviour on the part of the Tories? I can't believe it, it's so out of character!
Did they cry when Johnson had parties ?
No COVID rules were broken.😅😅😅😅
@@lizdocherty3067 👍😂😂
You and the IEA got what you paid for, Timmy boy.
I doubt Montgomerie's angry at what these Tories have done, I think he's angry they were caught.
I am no Tory, but his outrage is sincere. He was similarly outraged about Sunak’s leaving the D-Day commemoration early. The Conservative Party needs a root and branch clear out.
@@finnsaund1895did he say anything about PPE vip lanes and Sunak and Johnson’s £50 covid fines compared to ordinary people being fined thousands?
Natural Tory behaviour as shown and encouraged by Boris.
Anyone else considered that this is what happens when the press simply freely reports on the Tories unencumbered by fear of restrictions and reprisals when the Tories are in power?
And one more Tory who doesn't understand - it is not a matter of how much money is being placed on the bet - it is a matter of the sheer lack of respect for the public and for British Law - Insider betting is illegal no matter how big or small the bet
It tells you all you need to know about what the Tory party has become.
Always has been.
Tim Montgomeryshire, a classic Tory Silverback seeking a new career with the impending demise of his party.
Sunak looking weak by just allowing these people to stand as normal without any suspensions etc.
Who remembers when Alan B'stard was satire?
Sunak is the Kingpin, billions of pounds awarded to his dad in law's company, Rishi wouldn't bet, it's too small a fry for him, he goes for the biggest fish.
‘Ethical Tory’ could now be regarded as an oxymoron.
Rishi may not have known that these alleged bets were placed, but what he is 100% responsible for is choosing the people under investigation in the first place - all down to his judgement, or lack of.
Surprised Montgomery isn't blaming Starrmer
Tory henchmen know that Tories are out of government for a good decade or two... So, they are somehow trying to make the most of it before the gravy train leaves.
Don't bet on it being that long. The crises heading this country's way are epic and are likely to blow Labour out of the water
@@user-rk9it9hz6g The tories are gone mate. This is their swan song as they completely collapse. They are the new UKIP.
Partygate was created by the newspapers, it was nonsense.
People won't turn to the Tories for answers - the Lib Dems are STILL getting flack for not cutting tuition fees when they were in coalition.
@@user-rk9it9hz6g It might blow Labor out of the water - but the Tories are not getting back in, this is it. They are over. they will never hold power again
Self-interested Tories?
Who'd have thought?
Selfish tories? The horror!
Nice to see Ed Vaizey thinks its all a laugh and a joke. Typical tory...
Look on the bright side Tim. The Tory "Campaign Director" has had to stand down. Based on the Tory campaign so far I would think that would probably help.
Yes there's a danger the Tories might win now. Clearly this campaign director wasn't helping
Breaking: The Tory campaign director has stood down over the gambling scandal, prompting many to ask 'Wait the Tories had someone directing their campaign!?'
The damage done by Johnson and the rest have completely undermined the political system in the UK. People have lost trust in politicians and its going to be very hard to get it back. There needs to be an independent standards committee where the the standards for politicians is exacting with no excuses, and not judged by the PM.
It's almost like they want to lose. The complete cluelessness and thickness of the people running the party is just unreal. So out of touch.
You could pitch the story to a Hollywood studio, and it would be too unbelievable even for them.
Entitled Tories yet again!
Entitled only to themselves.
I’m incredibly surprised to hear they had a director for their election campaign
The Founder Of Conservative Home has actually dealt with Conservatives before, right?
the crime is getting caught!
@@shaun906Exactly!!!!
It would appear the 4th of July is going to be a national holiday in the UK as well.
Totally unacceptable, they got caught
A cherry on top of all the corruption
Promote greed and avarice; Get greedy and avaricious people.
Only 50 Quid ,a lot if you are on benifits and disabled. VILE.
50 is a quarter of weeks state pension so it is a lot of money to some people, they disgust me.
for a few quid - unbelievable
I know. I wish he'd have given me the information. I would have bet thousands. And met him in a coffee shop and slipped him an envelope stuffed with 10 pound notes. So it would have been win/win.
Jonathan Pie's response should be glorious.
"never any question of him being tempted to do anything untoward..." I imagine that's a minority belief in the country! Non Dom, green card, tax rules, expensive travel, VIP PPE & possibly squashing fraud investigations, etc.
If Tim The Dim is saying this about his beloved Conservative Party, imagine the bile he would be spouting if it were Labour or the SNP. As usual, Tim is going very lightly on his Tory chums.
what do you expect when every sponsor of everything is a betting company!
It's all about making money for the Tories, running the country is just a side gig.
Sunak should suspend or boot them out but he`s way too weak
This is like watching a car crash, that happens every single day, again & again.🤦🏻♂️🙄
Self > Party > Donors > Friends > Country
@JevansUK I'm surprised you put Country so high up on the list.
Tories, it is always money. Could they not least got another family member put the bet???? Chicken coming home.
We don't know yet how many people put these bets on, and with how many companies so things could get even worse.😅😅
Vote Labour get the Tories out.
Lol, I got a 'Gambling Awareness' add before this clip. 😂🤣😂
STOP THE TOFFS
He's laughing. He's fecking laughing .............
In other words, classic Tory.
So the penny has finally dropped Tim 😂
How anyone, regardless of political persuasion or none, can be shocked by anything anymore is in itself almost shocking!
Johnson was up to his neck in partygate, however Sunak was also fined for breaking lockdown rules, they are all the same...rotten to the core...
Torygraph reporting a large spike in G.E. bets placed day before announcement 🤔.
im running out of popcorn 🍿
The worst thing is that Sunak did nothing when he found out about it - there was time to pull his PPS' election, although that window has closed now. He did the same with Braverman when he became PM, and made much about being an ethical PM before appointing a corrupt politician to one of the major offices of state. This is the sort of thing you would have expected under Boris.
Sunak was fined too for party gate.
At last they see what we see and they don't like it
The antics of the tory party have been unbelievable, but the people are getting wise , and I am sure election results will reflect this.
Well - at least we know that any tory betting that they will lose the GE is not based on insider info - everyone already knows that!
we would owe the bookies
This government will have integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level.
Trust is earned. And I will earn yours. this is from Rishi Sunak's first speech as PM outside No.10. No, No, No, No and no. someone please remind our PM of his speech annd intentions, as he has clearly forgotten them.
*TIM - THEY BEHAVED LIKE TORIES...!!!* Its like the parable of the old woman that rescues a snake and it bites her "Why are you upset? says the snake "You KNEW I was a snake all along"
It's like they're TRYING to loose at this point. It's madness.
There’s no honour amongst thieves!
" Never...in the field of British politics , has so little been done for so many by so few " - ( The Conservatives ) Vote Conservative- Every Little Helps !
This is exactly the kind of greed and selfishness that Thatcher promoted. This is what he wants. What is he complaining about??
Tories being Tories shock.
Labour scandals over the last 4 years ( Two or Three?) Tory scandals over the last 5 years (got a piece of paper?)
Yep. I got a roll of toilet paper. Will that be long enough?
Disgusting, but not surprising (which says something in itself).
Bearing in mind it is a criminal offence to place a bet when you know the result in advance this simply confirms that leading Tories are only interested in themselves (and as thick as two short planks). I hope that those who broke the law are taken to court.
I have seen a graph of betting trends for the date of the GE. There was an enormous spike in bets placed on the day before Sunak announced the date.
It doesn't offend me as a conservative or a liberal....it offends me as a punter. I place my bet with publicly available information and this guy does it with inside information. It's unconscionable. As a member of the betting fraternity....IT BOILS MY BLOOD!
As they say over the pond ‘lock ‘em up’.
No surprise there, then.
If members of the Conservative Party have to be told that betting on a dead cert is beyond the pale, it implies they have absolutely no scruples and don’t even realise that having no scruples is a bad thing. My knowledge of these matters tells me that ‘unusual betting patterns’ is almost certainly more than 2-3 dodgy late bets on the election date. There would have to be more bets placed than the ones we know about for there to be a discernible pattern, especially as the stakes so far revealed have been relatively small. I’m hearing more names will be revealed shortly, at least 6-8 further instances.
How many people are going to be as apoplectic and scandalised as this chap, and then still vote Tory?
