KindTail I Origin Story I Founder Amy Kim

I am Amy Kim, the founder of KindTail. I established KindTail with a heartfelt intention inspired by my dog, Monkey. During a challenging personal period, Monkey became my saving grace. One day, as I was folding his wire crate and inadvertently injured my finger, a spark of inspiration ignited.
With years of experience in product design, having previously worked on projects for Ford, Xbox, P&G, and Motorola, I possessed the knowledge to create the ultimate pet crate.
In 2019, KindTail was born. The name itself, KindTail, embodies the profound impact of kindness bestowed upon me by my beloved dog, Monkey. It was this very kindness that transformed my life. As you explore our range of products, including our collapsible dog crates, pet bowls, dog bed loungers and crate pads, we sincerely hope you derive immense joy from each one.

At the origin of my company KindTail was my dog Monkey. He saved me at the lowest point in my life and so I truly understand the value of that human and pet relationship. We’re always pouring into our pets and the pets are always pouring into us.
When I got Monkey, I realized that there was a huge gap in the pet industry for well-designed pet products. So I researched online for the best crate there was, and there wasn’t anything on the market. That’s when the light bulb went off.
I’m an expert in design. I work as an automotive designer for Ford on electronic products such as the xBox controller, so as a designer I thought ‘how could I make this better’? So the process began of me designing the best crate there is: the PAWD.
Every night I put my son to bed and I stayed up until midnight doing sketches, modeling in 3D, and sending it off to my engineer so that we could prototype it and test it. We really look at how can we support the lifestyle of the dog owner and the dog? So our products are portable, lightweight, and it makes you feel good.
As a parent, you want to provide the best for your dog and so I hope that my products help other pet parents and their fur babies to live a happy life together.
