  • The end of the Leinster and Munster round-robin series brought no shortage of on-field drama, sideline questions and top level action in championship hurling.
Michael Verney was joined by John Mullane and Eddie Brennan to break down a weekend that saw Limerick top the Munster table, Galway get dumped out and Dublin show true strength.
Questions over management have begun to crop up, as John states his support for Davy Fitzgerald staying on. Meanwhile, the crew debate whether Liam Cahill gets enough credit for taking the Tipperary job, and ask whether family commitments may contribute to Henry Shefflin’s time in Galway drawing to a close.

Bonnar had a 3 year contract too and they tipp board hoofed him out after one, when he was trying to bring in the younger lads and hadn't got results.

exactly the whole cahill stepped up when no one wanted the job narrative being spun here is a farce, sure he snatched the job from a man mid contract himself but we cant even question his contract seems a bit odd

He lost the dressing room in Waterford too. Tipp have been flat as a pancake for the bulk of the last 2 years, and the question was whether he felt he was the man to take them forward - perfectly valid question, that was a bit of a soft pitch for me. Cahill's response speaks to insecurity

The Kyle hayes ( not purposely) foul could have been red ,the ref made up for that by not giving a penalty on the hegarty foul , Eddie Brennan didn't mention the foul on hegarty, Eddie Brennan can't bare the thought of Limerick doing 5 in a row ,long way to go but we will just have to wait and see.

@@josephmaher4270 Fair enough and no problem i thought since he brought up the Kyle Hayes foul which should have been red even though it wasn't intentional, Eddie Brennan should have mentioned the foul on Hegarty ,but no harm done just making some points that were not mentioned, but i suppose every incident can't be spoken about so many games.

I@@jamesmcallister9645I think to be fair he mentioned it on twitter that Hegarty was clearly tripped and should have got the free/penalty

The Burke foul was committed after Whitely passed the ball. So, off the ball, head-high so stone cold red!

Once more Eddie gives vent to his anti Limerick bias. He once again has issues with Kyle Hayes and infers that he should, (could) have got a red and the result could have been different, while no reference to two penalties that limerick should have got and the strike on Tom Morris. So much for objective comment😂😅😅😅

I didn't think there was much in Eddie's early comment about the Kyle Hayes swipe but I'm at 22mins now & he started again. I'd have to disagree with his overall assessment of the ref's performance. In the general run of the game Waterford were getting away with a lot of jersey pulling & hurling holding. Example Dan Morrissey had his arm held as he tried to handpass the ball & it lead to a W'ford pt. Waterford defender played Shane O'Brien's hurley & prevented him from playing it. There were numerous other similar examples throughout the game.
The 'big decisions' broke either way.
Hayes could have seen red but I don't think it was deliberate.
Limerick could have had a penalty.

his job is to analysis and give his opinion,he is not anti limerick as he admires them so understand the difference.

    • @raymondgilbourne112
      @raymondgilbourne112 3 місяці тому

@josephmaher4270 his analysis consisted of ignoring all the jersey pulling & hurley holding by Waterford, criticise a free awarded to Gillane, say Hayes should've been sent-off & ignore the potential penalty calls to Limerick.

He went in on the Kyle Hayes one a second time in an overall point that big decisions went for Waterford, if he was balanced, he’d have said that Hegarty was a penalty black card offense, completely missed.

Limk better in Round Robin than last yr. In 2023 Limk got 4pts & had a +2 scoring difference. This year 6 match pts & +26pts scoring difference. Round Robin results against Clare, Tipp & Waterford much improved. Even though Limk lost to Cork by 2pts (as opposed to 1pt win last yr) if Will O'Donoghue didn't drop that ball when they went 4pts up in the 66th min Limk probably win comfortably.
Clare not as good this year. They're leaving teams hang around in games. Possibly discovering that winning the league two weeks before Munster round robin commences is not ideal.

Limerick smothered Waterford, who were drawn into a physical battle, and Limerick got possession every time in the toe to toe exchanges, whereas Cork turned up the pace against Limerick and exploited all the open spaces to facilitate their runners, which kept Limerick back pedalling much more than they expected ; and this the only way to beat them.
Over the past four years, i have noticed on the great majority of occssions , when there is a borderline illegal tackle , if the Limerick player gets the better of the tackle the referee allows the advantage , but if the opposing player gets the upperhand a free is given agaimst him. ; and the only way to counteract this bias , is to utilise the open spaces where a fast skilful player can only be tackled after they have scored.

Cork with their ROUTE 1 "tactic" 🙄 wil only work out of the blue once.....that ain't going to work again if we meet them. They had their little bit of success down in 'Da Páirc that night, things will be a little bit different it if there's a re-match. 😉 Waterford tried to copy Cork's "tactic" & failed. W'frd were totally outclassed, outfought & outthought by Limerick & in the end they were well beaten by a Limerick team that's still not playing at full pelt but had 19 wides with most of those scoreable & didn't move out of 3rd gear all during the match. We move on & just only focus on the Mun Final now. 💪🏻💪🏻🇳🇬🇳🇬
