I saw her dance as the princess on Thursday, when she was supposed to dance the part of the violet fairy because Lauren was injured and they were only told that morning. She done such an amazing job. It was wonderful to watch.
I’ve been watching Fumi closely as she’s taken on bigger roles and have concluded that she is definitely one to watch. If I were a betting man, I’d say she is likely to make principal in the short term. Dancing Aurora is itself a big clue as to how she is regarded by Kevin O’Hare.
Washington school yesterday and ge to be in touch with you and your family and your familly and your families answer tuning assembled assembly Dr effect again later
Loving this new generation of stars- Fumi, Mayara, Anna Rose...all so stunning and unique, watching them become the dancers they are has been wonderful
Apart from being an amazing dancer she is also a lovely person. My wife was at one of her rehearsals; at the end Fumi stopped and talked with her for a couple of minutes. She didn't need to, she could have just walked away, but she found the time.
Well said :) She looks like she's having a genuinely good time, has a lovely smile and isn't rushing any of the movements. As much as all ballerinas are incredibly gifted, graceful, poised etc. as well, I couldn't help but notice her arms and upper body in particular. She really pulls up and is super graceful with her arms ♡
She is just so youthful, sweet, and captivating! The ultimate Aurora. She was born for this role!

Absolutely stunning! Please release a DVD with her! She suits Aurora so well, not just with her facial expression but also with this delicate way of dancing and this percise technique😍
Fumi is a gorgeous dancer so light and fleet glad she got the chance to shine last Thursday night, but sorry about Lauren. This variation is a showy piece so the dancer has to highlight all her technique so not much of a character piece. Fumi has it all so let’s hope she will be promoted to principal.
fumi is such a beautiful aurora, so joyful, she really seems like a princess on her 16th birthday. well done, can't wait to see her promoted to principal someday!
I wish the conductor would follow her pace during her triple pirouettes. Sometimes the conductor has a mind of their own! Pay attention to her musicality!
Dancing CumberCookie the conductor’s head sticks out slightly over the top of the pit so he can see the dancers. Ballets would be disasters if the conductor and dancers couldn’t see each other.
A good dance conductor (like the consummate John Lanchberry) follows the dancer for little flourishes like the extra pirouettes. He has to be able to see especially in pieces like the Rose Adagio because on the balances, if the ballerina is struggling, he has to extend the 4 phrases to match what she's doing, although within limits. There's a film of Alina Somova doing this variation where the timing really is off, but it's her getting to the turns before the orchestra even gets to the slight rests right before. Here, the conductor should have followed her.
It's fun when the ballerina they show in rehearsal then gets filmed. Can I ask those of you who saw it how the Rose Adagio went? Gosh, she had to go on on a broadcast night for an injured, popular principal? What pressure!
I went to cinema on Thursday, the rose adage overall was very pleasing! Even though it's not perfect in every detail, but Fumi def nailed it and showcased the elegance and wonderful balance technique.
@@floatingbob_4427 Thanks! I remember Yuhui Choe going in for Natalia Osipova a few years ago and all the flak RB got about that (US groupie, followed this long distance) from people who bought tix specifically to see Osipova. (I would have laid down and died to see Yuhui live!) We lost the cinema ballet feed a few years ago (just in time to miss Nunez as Giselle and the revival of The Two Pigeons) and I'd heard people say none of the US even got this broadcast. So envious you saw it live!
Frist things first, I absolutely adore Ms. Nuñes and Ms. Cuthbertson. However it’s very nice when I see this channel posting extracts of other talented principals/soloists like Ms. Kaneko or Ms. Magri. Well done!
Between this being an almost painfully slow (though beautiful) variation and the double manege at the end, I don't know how she's still standing after that.
Their costumes haven't changed since Margot Fonteyn, and that was after the world war. Watch the documentary it's mind blowing. Anyhoo Fumi is lovely to watch, after my fave Nela.

@@Kassie6600 And she finally became a principal congratulations fumi kankeo
She honestly is one of the cleanest ballerinas ive ever seen. Quality and precision are her trademarks, she deserves to be promoted to principal.

Fumi is such a joy to watch. Very charming
Oh man those hands. Her technique is so beautiful and refined. I hope she gets promoted.
I did a masterclass with her today, and she was the sweetest and kindest person ever! And she is an amazing ballerina 🤩🤩
I love these quieter, slower performances where you can really see the technique and mastery of the art 💐💐💐 absolutely perfect

Wonderful anecdote! 🌈✨🕊️
many thanks for sharing such a heart warming episode!
She has this air of being both joyfully youthful, but regal and elegant in her dancing. Fumi is a treasure!!!

She is not a Principal! She is a First Soloist, but surely deserves promotion to Principal soon!
@@johngraham3139 Yes i made a mistake.she is a soloist

So beautiful, she’s perfect for this role!!!

I could watch this all day! Its so peaceful and calming.
Her legs are truly mesmerising. She's a truly stunning dancer

J. K. The conductor is in the pit and can’t see the dancer.
@@decimatedstar218 I realize that, but I'm certain there were many rehearsals prior to, where musical details could've been figured out.

Well she jumped in on short notice (brilliantly btw), and maybe he simply did not know or expect she would do triples! He went the safe way!
She looks like a doll... so beautiful
2:36 I love how slowly she closed, and then how quick the pas de bourre was afterwards 😆
Texture, speed, and quality ✨ she’s got it all nailed
She’s so beautiful!!
How she dances, it's graceful, and kind of playful.
