Sustainable fuelwood for improved livelihoods in Menabe

The need for fuelwood in Menabe has exceeded the capacity of the western dry forests of Madagascar (namely Menabe Antimena, Kirindy Mite & Tsimembo Manambolomaty protected areas) to sustainably provide this source of energy.
WWF initiative in partnership with local communities, local authorities and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development addresses this main threat to these unique forests through the implementation of improved fuelwood practices and sustainable management of natural forests.
