Well, it was a part of problem, that the emperors could not effectively control the entire empire and especially the far-flung border provinces crucial to the defense. One reason why Diocletian tried the Tetrarchy, and why the later emperors divided the empire between him and the co-emperor. It didn't work well as they hoped.

I want an expansive Empire TW2 including China, maybe starting at 1492, the age of colonisation, allow playable smaller factions that can try and hold off the colonisers, everyone in the world would have an interest, I have no interest in fighting Civil wars in China, Greece or the US tbh. Best mechanics were in Attila, avoid those horrible playing card type unit avatars, spoiled Rome 2 totally for me. I would pay over the odds for an expansive world domination game from 1492 maybe playable for a few centuries, or even a Mongol invasion game. Like you have said in other videos it would bring all the TW community together because it would be a world game. Can't wait.

    *In preparation for Medieval 2:*
There were only two major Italian powers: Milan and Venice. The Papal States had no personal ambitions, the Sicilians were too busy becoming a North African faction, and Florence was a small insignificant town that didn't garner any attention.
Some random disaster happened in Aleppo, and everyone around the world immediately heard about it. Nobody cared, though.
Even though the world was rich in resources, most cities had no mines, dirt roads, ports, or land clearances to harvest the resources.
In 1100, Spain and Portugal allied with the Moors, uniting the peninsula in an era of peace and prosperity!
