Man o man.. My dad had an Aaen piped 89 Phazer when I was a kidand it rocked…. When it came time to buy my own first sled my dad took me to Sudbury Cycle and I had the choice between a 92 Indy 400 or the identical 89 Phazer he had minus the pipe and I chose the Polaris. Still regret it to this day and this was 25 + years ago lol
yup apparently they are the same bulkhead, phazer 1 and ovation, i never really liked the exciter 570s, had one way back. maybe the exctier 2 sx would be decent because that one made like 92hp or soemthing but i didnt like my regular exciter 570.
'88 Phazer, full new rebuild top and bottom, climbing hard through 100 k/h, on lake, running through 6-8" powder on top of crust 2wks ago (Sudbury). I'm happy. Stock can, original track. Ran out of lake, nerve (hidden icy cross-tracks). At higher speeds you'd get some wind resistance from that windshield?
Pretty good for a fanner 340. Still interested if it will over-rev after you do all those other mods you listed. Remember your top speed is affected by RPM, clutching and gearing. So when you add more power, top speed might be the same, but you get there faster. If RPM is faster you might get more speed, but be out of the power band. It'll be fun tuning it, for sure.
Are you running the stock gearing? I would think that Phazer motor would be able to pull much higher gearing and that would make your top speed jump significantly. Without having a Tach and just listing to the video it seems like the engine might be over reving past the HP peak, reinforcing the need for taller gearing. Pretty cool project!
I have a small digital tach and it's showing the rom being bang on, 7250 - 7300. But I am running stock Gering with 8btooth drives which is only good for 81mph so I am pretty much out of gear. Got a 1 tooth taller top gear now for the next run, well see what happens
Unfortunately it's I'm possible to fit an airbox given the space. I had a very small custom airbox I was going to put in and get fresh air from outside into ot but couldn't fit it either. Unfortunately I'm going to run the pod filters I hate and consider it a small loss, I don't want to blast any holes I the hood or body because I want it to look completely stock
could very well be at 7400 rpm, my digital tach is reading 7250 - 7300, would be within reason to be possibly 100 rpm out. i jus tended up doing a couple more things that will cause it to pull sligtly more rpm so well see how she responds on the next top speed video
I own this sled and I topped it out today..... And buried the needle.

Haha cool story, when i was a kid I liked those indy 400s too
Got 98 with Aaen pipe on an snow packed road.
I think the top speed on that is not bad at all! Nice work bud! 😊
thanks man, only going to get faster from here
That’s a great speed! And exactly why I premix 😅 no matter what there was always oil everywhere
Haha premix saves me once again
awsome transformation good job could the hifax be starting to stick because of the no snow conditions
Yup good point
ovation and Phazer basically the same , use a exciter that will make it go

Thats wild ive been clocked at 86 on a ported stock pipe 340 ovation

Yeah I'm sure the windshield probably takes a couple mph off for sure it's huge

Yup its gonna be fun to get it dialed. I still have a set of newer clutches too that i could use, larger diameter and overdrive
Judging by the turbines. I know exactly where you are now lol. That’s awesome

Those thing were peepy even with the 340.
What is your plan for air supply for those carbs ?

What about the vmax???
Still waiting for some good snow haha
Run it to 7400 rpm it'll run better
