Olive: congratulations on 10 years with You Tube. I enjoy your book reviews and think they are very worthwhile. It lives me a chance to quickly know about a new book and if I want to persue it. Some I do and some I don’t. However, it also opens my mind to try to read something different and new. Now, that’s exciting. Thank you. Carol from California
A few of these went on my tbr. Thanks to you, I listened to the audio of The Rules of Civility twice in a row, and it was one of my top books of the year.
I read Twain's Joan book when I was probably 13. I loved it. I put The Modern Fairies on my schedule for probably March. I think I can put Eleanore into April or May. Thank you for suggesting them.
The Ornithologist's Field Guide sounds so fun! Cant wait to get to my copy. It sounds similar to Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries which I had a fun time reading this year. One of my top reads this year was A Letter to the Luminous Deep by Sylvie Cathrall.
I recently finished The Ornithologists Guide to Love and absolutely adored it. I had previously read all 3 of India Holton's dangerous damsels series and loved them. I also read the Wrexford and Sloane series this year and would recommend them to anyone.
I am so glad to hear you enjoyed Eleanor of Avignon so much. I have really been wanting to read it but hadn't heard anyone talk about it. I'm now even more excited to get to it. I already have a Libby hold on The Ornithologist's Field Guide to Love. It's supposed to be available for me around Valentine's Day.
A refreshingly different list, but I personally favour things with more of a fantasy/sci-fi edge.... Here is my top 5 books read in 2024 : 1 The Unlikely Escape of Uriah Heep (H G Parry) 2 How High we go in the Dark (Sequoia Nagamatsu) 3 My Brother's Keeper (Tim Powers) 4 The Midnight Library (Matt Haig) 5 Slaughterhouse 5 (Kurt Vonnegut Jr).
So glad I found your channel! I also love Eleanore of Avignon. It is in my top two books of the year. My other favorite book is The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. A historical novel about Martha Ballard, a midwife who actually lived in the mid to late 18th century. It's loosely based on her diaries. Very good!
I'm interested in the Joan of Arc book. I plan to read at least 5 biographies, autobiographies, and memoirs this year, so it's now on the list. My favorite fiction book this year is "The Bonesetter's Daughter" by Amy Tan. I've now read all her novels. That book is a standout.
I’m in love with Famuliaris. The characters the loyalty and the diverse paths their lives took. I was slow to find it but so grateful. Have you read and reviewed it?
I love this video! Except for the Twain book they are all new to me. And you are an excellent host. One of the best on book tube. I have to respectfully disagree about the Joan of Arc book. I love that you said Twain thought it was his favorite book. Which when I read it I couldn't see how he thought that. I personally thought it was a slog. But obviously you are on the side of one of the world's greatest writers. Ha! Thanks again for the wonderful video. Modern Fairies sounds right up my alley.
Thank you for another entertaining year of books and excellent recommendations. I am glad I found your channel, because we have similar tastes in books. Happy New Year and blessings to you into 2025.
I want to read all of these but particularly Mark Twain’s book. I was never much of a fan of his, he was just okay for me, but I have a feeling this may change that. Happy New Year, Olive. Looking forward to all the wonderful books you bring us in the coming year.💙
Thank you for featuring Twain's book about Joan of Arc. We visited the city where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake (Rouen, France - where there is also a Joan of Arc Museum) a few months ago & I look forward to reading even more about her! My favorite fiction books this year were The Wolf at the Table, The Book of George & Help Wanted.
Enjoyed your list, yes loved Eleanor of Avignon, will add the orintology book for 2025. Have you read Mina's Matchbox, or Cuddy by Benjamin Myers, I loved those as well. By the way you always look beautiful, that blue sweater looks great on you. Look forward to your videos in 2025
I'm a new-ish subscriber, but am so glad I did! I love your energy and your reviews (especially the non-fiction ones). Your summary of Eleanore of Avignon reminded me very much of a book that I read back in the 80's, *A Vision of Light* by Judith Merkle Riley. I remember that at the time it was a fairly big deal, but I wasn't reading fiction then. I only ended up reading it because the reviews said that it was a very accurate portrayal of life in the 13th century. It became one of my all -time favorites! Wonderful video as always - I and my TBR list thank you! I hope you and yours have a very happy and healthy 2025.

I literally just finished Eleanore of Avignon yesterday! So amazing and a great start to the year!
Have put “Dark” and “Eleanore” on my (massive) TBR list. Almost sounds like a Follett novel. So many books, so little time!! Happy New Year!

Wow! Your book no.1 came out of left field and now I'm so excited to read it! Thanks Olive, happy new year!
Great video! Looks like I have FIVE new books to add to my ever growing TBR. Thank you for that! Happy New Year!😊
I think I have to add three last one to my tbr now. Sounds super interesting and I love historical fiction
I’m interested in reading all of your favorites, in both fiction and Non fiction! Great lists
Personal Recollections...is on my list. Hope to like it as much as you obviously did.
I have Modern Fairies and now have put it further up on my the pile. It also fits the food on the cover prompt for buzzwordathon 😊

I will definitely read couple of these soon

Happy New Year, Olive! These books sound fantastic.
Happy New Year to you, too!
I put Here in the Dark on my fiction reading list in my local library because it sounds intriguing.

Happy New Year to you, too! Happy to have you here ❤️
Do you still do those candles
No, not anymore. I was just helping out for a period of time.
Will definitely read Eleanore and Joan of Arc. Thanks Olive! Happy 2025!
I am so looking forward to reading Eleanor of Avignon. I already thought it sounded great, but after your review I'm going to bump it up my tbr 😊
You are an inspiration in so many ways. Looking forward to checking out the books
Twain's Joan book is SUCH a treat. I love that cynic as he was, Clemens was utterly charmed by her.
I love your channel. But as a short person.... It's so odd to see someone speak "up" towards me. Usually people have to look down 😂

Maybe here in the dark too 😂

Me: I hate mysteries.
Agatha Christie: Try this one
Me: booo
Reads and then there were none
🤯
not book related but can you tell us how you get your skin to look like a porcelain doll????We need to know!!

agree with Cuddy
