great vid canal system full of zander i live in coventry and 3 years ago zander appeared so did the ea netting everything as well as zander and taking all the silver bream carp ect ,, by the way coombe abbey lake empties into smythe brook with empty in sowe then the avon and grand union joins avon witch is possible way ,, the ea are doing more damage than zander because there out balance in time , the ea are destoying the chances and there netting dont catch the babies ,, there also wels cats bullheads channel cats all present in canal in midlands plus populations of guppies , and krays every where now

It's illegal to return zander to the water (although I do). Left himself open a little bit there.

Matt returning a zander into the water. It's totally Illegal to do that Matt.
The Stratford Canal near Stratford-Upon-Avon is almost devoid of any fish bar Zander and the odd carp. The carp being to big for the Zander to take. However, some of the carp are quite large.
The canal used to be a pretty good mixed fishery too... _That was until the Zander moved in._

Well clearly there was no predators. If there was big predators like pike they'd control the Zandet

Any waters with Pike don't have any issues with Zander. Pike are at the top of the food chain so naturally control the Zander.

Is it not illegal releasing a non native species back into the waterways?

@@stevencharter1803 Technically it is but few anglers kill zander

@@stevencharter1803 Zander are considered naturalised and established in the various waterways I fish, you certainly wouldn't get prosecuted for putting them back, after all, it was the Great Ouse River Authority who tipped 97 zander fingerlings into the Relief Channel that caused the issue...
