Billy Joe was the real deal- authentic and funny as hell. Those of us who love music lost a good 'un a couple of weeks ago. Rest in Peace Billy Joe....you made me happy more than once, sir.
Sounds like he had a busy life growing up in Texas..... but he wrote some good songs, and Waylon Jennings made a cool million off from a lot of Billy Joes songs,

I live in Waco, Tx and stopped by the bar after I heard BJS’s story. I talked to 3 eye witnesses and the bar owner and they all say BJS’s account is not correct and he got off for murder because of the stars like Robert Duvall that acted as a character witness. They all say BJS should have been convicted of murder. I just wanted to share what I heard directly from the eye witness.

True but Billy made money from Waylon's recordings, too, plus a much bigger name for himself than he had before Waylon came into his life.
