What a great little video ..... Thankyou
Thanks Chalieoscar, we hope you can take something from this video, thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it.🙌
The Manual Choke is also a valuable tool in the tuning proces and with fuel diagnostics. Use it as it saves time.
Big thank you for this great explanation!!! Showing the different scenarios at the end really helped 👍👍
Thanks heaps, glad we could help you🙌
Beautiful explanation of electronic choke working❤❤. Thanks a ton.. Helped me diagnose the issue with my scooter too! 😊
👋 So glad to hear! The purpose of our video. The help we needed when we were younger.
Agreed - great video - straight forward - applied it to my typhoon and all now seems fine - thanks
Thanks Barry, as simple as it is this is one of our most valuable videos in terms of self diagnosing these issues and determing how to resolve.
Heloo, what spark plug do you recommend for stage 6 mk2 racing?
We use BR9ES for ZIP.
This is a very informative video. I now know how this works. Is this available in the USA.
Thank you, yes it would be available in the USA. Search local scooter part suppliers.
Hello, ive got a jetforce 50 with a 70cc malossi kit in, 8g rollers and leo vince clutch springs, uprated carb and a leo vince tt exhaust but i can only get about 45mph out of it, any advice. Thanks
Try getting a over range variator for that extra gearing?
is everything derestricted? Upgrade the cylinder and exhaust.
Will it work with any carb? I have a honda Dio AF18 and the E choke has a faulty connection. One of these seems like a perfect replacement, especially for cold starting. Question though? How long do you usually let the choke stay on for the manual one?
Yes it will, leave it on for 10 seconds and as you slowly start to turn it off apply a touch of throttle.
@@scooterstreetau Alright so I got the choke and bike still won't start, gas is cycling to the carb. Am i missing something?
Check the air filter, enough air flow? Check the fuel flow when cranking the engine, is the fuel flowing to the carby?
Check for spark, is it Zapping Blue/white at least 10mm? Test compression and air leaks.@@Ace01010
I've never heard of putting them in the freezer. Every day's a school day. 👌
Just like a beer , better icy cold.
Hey man! Do you have any idea why my 50cc yamaha scooter runs so good when cold for like 2-4mins and then it starts to lose power and can barely go up a hill and atleast 50% off acceleration speed just disappears. The problem has worsened when summer came
You didnt answer but i think it was the air filter because when i changed it the scooter worked way better
Thanks for this very informative video! I have a new scooter under 400 km. It seems to run good but before starting it, I usually need to turn the throttle once and start it up. The rpm is only about 1,000 to 1,500 rpm's so I have to baby the throttle a few minutes (or it will stall out) until it starts ideling at around 2,000 to 2,500 rpm's and then it's fine. Do you think it could be the auto choke is not working?? Thank you
Check the choke for sure, also the cary may not be adjusted correctly and also you may have an air leak so check from the airbox to the manifold just to be sure. this should be done from the dealer at the workshop prior to delivery to customer so if you have an issue reach out to the selling Dealer👍
@@scooterstreetau Oh, its a Carburetor
@@GY6ScooterAdventures-be2oe see reply above
@@scooterstreetau Thank you very much 👍
What should the voltage to the choke be?
When i tun my starter its 4v in the contact.
I just had an opportunity to test the choke on a 2 stroke, the power is AC and put out 4.6 volts. Ignition on no power, it is only powered when the enigne is running. Power supply when the stator rotates.
Are these auto chokes generally the same thing? I would like to convert my Peugeot Django 125 to a cable operated manual choke. Do you think yours would fit?
Find out what type and size of choke and you will possibly find there is an option for manual choke.
My gy6 starts fine but every stop it drops rpm and when you rev it 2-3 times it will go back to normal. Is it auto choke always turning on every stop?
Check for air leaks in every rubber part.
hi mate i’ve been having problems with my moped recently. so i found out i had a split in my fuel line and i needed to fix that immediately, so i ended up replacing them and since then it started bogging out after half throttle and just seemed like it was struggling. i rode it for a few days after that and on thursday last week i was going home and it just randomly started sounding like a piece of metal in a washing machine, just grinding and jolting and struggling to run. i don’t know what’s wrong with it
That makes 2 of us.
Check out the source of the noise.
@@scooterstreetau it’s hard to tell when it’s coming from since it only happens when i ride, but i think it’s coming from the cvt. i took it apart and noticed who ever owned it last, the plastic variator fan snapped and they never replaced it. it’s a piaggio zip 2t
Why not have a look.... Running the engine without a fan will without a doubt casue a major engine failure.@@threefootflatty3688
@@scooterstreetau okay no worries i don’t know if it broke while i was riding it or if was like that a few months ago before i bought it, but what issues could it cause without having it?
Over heating of the transmission.@@threefootflatty3688
Where are you located and what does a manual choke cost
Gold Coast, approx. $25.
Hey guys, im experiencing splutter/bog at 3/4 throttle, wondering what your thoughts would be.
my set up: Piaggio zip euro2 50cc 2t
Stage 6 exhaust
MHR replica 70cc kit
5.5 gram rollers
82 main jet
You need to eliminate the possible cause. Do this by testing each system, Jet up to 98 and come down from there. Is the needle set to middle. You should only fit 1 part per time and tune to suit to avoid this. It will save dollars and hours of trouble shooting.
yes I did change one part at a time, however the splutter/bog has been pretty consistent. The clip was initially on the leanest top notch so I moved it to the middle which helped somewhat in the mid range but still the same issue from half throttle onwards@@scooterstreetau
What did you do or change when the issue first presented?@@js256scoast
I went from a 82 main jet to a 78 main jet with not much change.@@scooterstreetau
I went from an 82 main jet to 78 main jet but it didn't change much@@scooterstreetau
My choke keeps falling out of my scootstar racestar 50cc theres no way to hold it in the fixings are missing i brought this brand new as well
Ask the selling Dealer for assistance.
I changed the auto choke with a brand new one and it works but not as it shoulds
Thiat would be confusing, check the choke and check the carb settings, you may have anther issue.
Hi my carburater don't give petrol to the spark plug
Oh no..
The first thing you would check and see if you have power to the choke!!! And if not how to fix the hot wire!!!!
Yes good addition to the troublesome choke.
We remove the choke and have a special connection which connects it directly to a 12v battery, you can visually see the choke extend into the OFF position. Or the freezer to have it retract.

Cowabunga!
That's an auto enricher lol
Yes👍
hello, i have a "small" problem. recently i gave my scooter a bit of a makeover, put a new exhaust on, rejet, new rollers and springs. but now when i use the throttle the bike takes a very long time to accelerate, like i have to rev it to above 5k rpm before it even moves a little, and acceleration is just painfully slow. i thought it might have ti do with to stiff clutch springs or something wrong with rollers. on unrelated note there has also been a rattling sound coming from the variator like a screw is loose in there or something. scooter in question is a derbi Atlantis with hiper engine. any help appreciated and cheers💪
Remove the parts one by one and start with the springs.
