    Zaad, this video is excellent! I watched the whole thing. I took an electromechanical design course a few years ago and this was the perfect refresher on induction motors. Thank you!

    I work in EV startup in Bay area! I had all qns about regenerative braking mathematical modelling for near 0 speeds!
    I am happy to say this video is really useful to understand the fundamentals

    How is it possible...to give and take electrical energy through the same cable?

    one doubt I have, u said during braking the current get reversed and as we know motor is nothing but inductor coil set, so won't it oppose the sudden reverse of current ?

    when we change synchronous frequency, doesnt it change rotor frequency too? and won't that be a problem when we are making a VFD with regenerative braking

    • @zaadlearn5500
      @zaadlearn5500  Рік тому

      Yes the rotor frequency will be changed too. Imagine a scenario when we leave the accelerator of a EV the synchronous frequency will be reduced, since the rotor was running it will take some time to slow down and to reach the decreased synchronous frequency. The motor will regenerate only till both frequencies get the same value.
      Most of the industrial VFD uses external rheostats to dissipate this energy but options are also there to use it back to source or to batteries.
      Hope that solves the query

    Regenerative braking is possible in Synchronous motor? Is is possible in Permanent magnet synchronous motor?

    Pl explain why negative torque produced during regeneration?? Its not just about equation that current will be reversed in regeneration. How current will be reversed must be explained

    • @zaadlearn5500
      @zaadlearn5500  Рік тому

      If you ask about the basics then since it is generating power while breaking the current will move away from the machine towards the source, now due to generation effect the machine will demand torque instead of supplying like generators do.

    What is the safe maximum and minimum speed limit at which regenerative braking can be applied in electric train? If supply frequency is to be lowered to maximize regeneration, then what is the limit of minimum frequency that can be lowered from 50Hz?

    • @zaadlearn5500
      @zaadlearn5500  3 роки тому

      Every Traction company has a different limit but on average Regen Braking can be applied at speed above 20KM/HR below this mechanical break will work. The frequency will be lowered up to 12HZ to get maximum generation some companies go below that also.
