Heard about this but finally watched... amazing interpretation of Shakespeare..Irrfan, Tabu n Pankaj were super brilliant... probably one of the best acting in Indian movies I have ever seen.
1:55:26 is easily my favourite scene. The hallucinations, the art of this scene where he remembers all his loved ones. The depiction of the real Maqbool is shown here when he realises the effects of his pernicious actions. Have seen it 5-6 times in a row and the effect of this scene is still with me.
Irrfan is a gem of Bollywood. I watched a pireted version of it a year ago with low sound quality and video quality. Consider yourself lucky watching officially great performances with great qualities.

Pankaj kapoor is one of the finest actor i must say,of course irfan was marvelous asusual,tabu did what she is known for. other actors also were very specific to their role.hats off to vishal bhardwaj . the role of nasir sir and om saab was like tadka to the movie.
This movie is benchmark for our generation ( Born after 1985).. Our eyes have not seen such performances during our childhood. Only Salman-Shahrukh-Amir Shit.. .It all started from Haasil.. Our generation saw a different Cinema which is more powerful than the Shit we used to see..

I have been watching this movie since the day of its release. This movie is an institution for drama students and ALL THE CHARACTERS are gems. One trivia about this movie is that this is the only movie which has no retakes. All takes were perfectly done in just one shot, Director himself realised after the shooting got completed.
yes thats because each one of the cast knew their roles and did that to perfection so obviously no re-takes were done and the director had a clear vision of how it should be projected so no need of many retakes as many of the so called directors boast of . If the director as a story teller conveys what he wants very clearly and his cast knows that exactly then there is no need for any retakes, very simple which is a rare thing to happen but do happen when behind the camera the director is very good and knows his craft and what exactly he wants and he conveys teh same and in return the cast conveys the same and that is finally captured in the camera.
You want to learn as a writer ...as actor....as a director ..as a producer...as a casting director...you watch this film . It's a lesson in how to make a film.
