  • We got a call for a CF moto side by side that had a broken A-arm.
Unfortunately, the Jeep still had a broken U joint!
We found the C.f. Moto, and after a little struggle got it loaded.
On the way out we weren't paying attention and crossed the trail we wanted.
We got it delivered to where it goes, and the dogs got to play in the lake!

@@MattsOffRoadRecovery When are you getting a Landscaper type of ramp for the Side x Side recoveries? This is painful to watch. 75%- ish - Plus of your SxS's have broken suspension, wheel off, flats. A hinged landscape ramp doubles as securement keeping recoveries from falling off the back of the trailer. Being a pro is constant improvement. Ramp should be broken suspension friendly- snag averse .. not mesh.

I remember as a kid in the early 80's coming home from Denver over Berthoud Pass when our Jeep CJ-7 broke a rear drive-shaft u-joint. Mom was in a panic (groceries getting warm) while Dad casually got under the Jeep w/ his small tool bag and came out w/ the driveshaft. Locked the front hubs and we had a front-wheel drive Jeep for a week or two.

I was going with my mother to our cabin, car packed full of stuff, food and two cats. Then i noticed that right rear tire was flat. She panicked like it was the End of the World even after i took out my 12V compressor. Pumped the tire to 2 bar every 20km and when we departed a store on the way, we managed to get us there without more problems.

Because flat towing our ‘66 Bronco damaged the Dana transfer case we took the rear driveline out every time WE hooked it up behind the camper. Locked the hubs and drove in FWD until it was convenient to reinstall it and use 4WD. I really miss having locking hubs on my JK.

Hey Matt! Awesome video! I think the “off day” you had was actually not too shabby for a video. It just shows that not everything goes according to plan every single time. Side note, I think it’d be a cool video idea if you maybe explained some of your struggles of running a UA-cam channel. I think it’d be an interesting perspective hearing it from someone who isn’t a career UA-cam person. Later on one of the other trail guides started laughing about what I said at that time to the driver as he told it to someone else who wasn't there. I actually didn't remember saying it at all, but, apparently, I told the driver, as he is trying to get through this rutted muddy trail, "Don't worry about all those sounds under the Jeep, those are just noises." lol.

Let's be honest here, A "3 wheel drive" Jeep is a lot more capable than some of these so-called off-road worthy Vehicles you can purchase nowadays. I was never a Jeep guy before but once I got into the one I just bought I totally understand why they have such a following and am now definitely a believer...or Jeeper what ever the term.

Hey, it's easy to post those videos where everything goes right and you look hella smart, but there's something wonderful about seeing those days where nothing goes right, too. It's a healthy reminder for all of us -- I know those days all too well, even if I'm pushing bits instead of recovering cars. Thanks!
