  • This is a clip of a sit-down interview with Nicholas Norwitz, PhD that was recorded during Metabolic Health Summit 2024. It can be watched in its entirety on our CME-centered medical education platform, The Metabolic Initiative: membership.met...
    Here's what he covers:
After developing inflammatory bowel disease in college, he embarked on a dietary exploration that concluded with remarkable improvements in his symptoms upon adopting a ketogenic diet.
This experience not only shifted his perspective on nutrition science but also led him to focus his career on making metabolic health mainstream.
Nicholas discusses his unconventional experiment comparing the effects of Oreos versus statin therapy on LDL cholesterol levels, showcasing surprising results that Oreos significantly lowered his LDL cholesterol by 71% in 16 days, outperforming statins.
He explores the phenomenon of lean mass hyperresponders and delves into the lipid energy model to explain this and initiates a broader conversation on the implications for metabolic health.
By challenging conventional approaches and pushing the boundaries of nutritional science, Nicholas aims to foster a greater understanding of metabolic health's importance and how diet, exercise, and lifestyle are fundamental to maintaining it.

The only thing stopping anyone from agreeing with him is the reflexive defensive mechanism of saying "no" to anything new. Nick for president.

Nick Norwitz you get the medical discovery game perfectly. I am reminded of Barry Marshall, Nobel Prize winner for his work on stomach ulcers. He gave himself one to prove his theory about Heliobacter pylori. Nick, Great protocol scientifically and for getting attention. As a lean-mass hyper-responder, I am constantly at odds with the doctors about my own health. I am hoping that there are many such types in India and China and that people in those countries will take up the challenge along with you.

Bring on the bigger study…. Let’s see if it’s actually a common effect…. Hoping it is!!

The worst type of carb lowering LDL? Fascinating! Given that we definitely know that Oreo cookies are a really unhealthy food - What does that say about the true nature of LDL. ?

Have you collected gene studies to evaluate for any consistancies?

I'm pretty sure that the genes would show that he is a human. It was a "study" of 1. He is only demonstrating that there is something more to discuss about the role of statins and cholesterol.

He isn't alone. Once you adapt low carb, then it is very easy to recap. Many guys reported his N=1 experiment as personal anecdote as well

Taking the Oreo make your LDL drop by 71% in 16 days. Can you tell how much Oreo you took each day?

Hey, Nick, speaking of "shock and awe," why do you think so many mainstream American cardiologists and lipidologists are AFRAID/THREATENED by the work (lipid-energy model) you and Dave Feldman and Dr. Matt Budoff are doing?📈🗃🔬🧪💉
