Does Danny Green is a point guard ?
Because he is soo bouncy
@@TownGod You mean his cousin Gerald Green? Danny Green is a 3 and D guy who won with the Spurs, Raptors, and Lakers.
@@TownGodf
Ja clearly jumps the highest (and smoothest I've ever seen since Vince Carter), he almost looks boneless on some dunks and landings, has amazing dynamic flexibility and reactivity to go with elite CNS. Unreal athlete.
@@JMV0711 absolutely not, jordan had a 48 inches vertical jump
Green to, high jump alley-oop of all time, chin above the ring)
@@pablodavid1908 jordans vert was closer to 44 inches. There is not 1 video tape of him getting his head 6 inches over the rim at 6 ft 6. There is not even much of him getting it over the rim. The same applies for wilt.
@@samuel_shemire It might have been just 42.But yeah
I think there’s a difference between “bounciest” and “highest jumping”. When people say “he’s bouncy” it usually means they are doing it frequently and have epic dunks (posters). So guys like TJ Ford and Spud Webb, who only dunked a handful of times, wouldn’t be in that conversation.
But “highest jumping” could be anyone. And it’s probably Spud.
ja is both
Dennis Smith Jr is a serious contender Billy
YEAH RIGHT ON THAT, DENNIS SMITH JR. ON HIS OWN LEVEL....
watch the whole vid! he gets a shoutout!
@@DunkademicsOfficial My bad 👌
Love this video and really all your breakdown videos. Please do more! The scientific way you approach it is exactly how my analytical mind would.
I started watching NBA and basketball in general and Michael Jordan inspired me to play. But Spud Webb is the man that gave hope to all of us who are 5 foot 7. I am biased and always Spud is the highest jumper in NBA history.
Spud definitely a legend
I’m a little bit related to spud
dude you literally have a bulls’ logo as profile pic
Wind by 🌹 in high school is so good looking!
Sick video billy! Nostalgia clouds people from what their eyes can verify.
showing westbrooks dunks while doing the sponsorship was an absolute W
you forgot SPUD WEBB boyy - 5’6” PG Slam Dunk champion
watch the whole video
What about Dennis smith jr?
he's definitely up there...just not as big of a name. I mentioned him towards the end of the video
Derrick Rose actually did a height check back in the summer of 2014 after his ACL tear during a team USA pre-game where he got his head at rim level I believe but I haven't been able to find that footage for a long time. Maybe someone can send it to me. I remember getting really excited during that time thinking that he would return to MVP form and be as athletic as ever. That was before he had that meniscus tear that delayed his career further. Imo that was probably his actual athletic peak but very brief.
yeah there was a clip of D-rose hitting a windmill and he got his head above the rim, it was in a Team USA warmups also
ja may be more bouncy but prime russ is way more athletic all around
what makes you say that?
Athleticism is what? Speed, agility, jumping, etc...I think Ja edges out Russ in everything except strength
@@DunkademicsOfficial I also think Russ is faster than ja but that’s my opinion
@@DunkademicsOfficial you're confusing jumping higher with being more athletic tbh
@@miguel151420 less weight Sherlock...
Damn u left out baron davis
Baron Davis was dope, but I don't think his bounce was quite on this level...slightly below
Dennis Smith bro damn
It's clear Ja jumps the highest! Dude flys
Back in the 80s it was so hard to find someone who can jump super high. Back in 1987 people kept telling me that I jump like Spud Webb. I didn't even know who he was. I thought I'll never find anyone who can jump as high as I do. But the following year I did. Someone shorter who can jump even higher. He was only 4'9" and can touch the rim. His name was Davith Hort. He kept telling me that I can jump as high. But I told him, No I can't. I told him I can jump super high but even at my best, there is no way I can compete with you.
So for decades I never found anyone who can jump like him. But now everyone learned the secret and so many people can jump like Spud Webb and a few can even jump higher.
People are just getting better and better. It's crazy!
great video, next should be best IN game dunker
Ya that one is super tough...more of an opinion rather than fact, but it's a good topic.
@@DunkademicsOfficial maybe do an honorable mentions and a top 5🤷♂️
I once saw a clip of Dr. J jumping from just inside of the foul line and clearing the guys head with his sneakers. Imagine if he had Air Jordans back then!!!!
I think DSJ got the highest vert in NBA history right?
Russ honestly shouldn’t even be in this conversation because he is the tallest of the batch pushing 6’4. It’s a close one between Rose and Ja, especially because Rose is closer to 6’1. But I agree that if I had to give it to one of them it would be Ja. However, I do not agree with you that Ja is more ATHLETIC than Rose. Bounce is not equivalent to athleticism.
yep prime rose is definitely faster than ja so I'd say more athletic overall but ja has the most bounce and russ is an honorable mention.
Ehhhh Ja might have him in those other areas too...the speed and quickness is a little tougher to measure tho
@@DunkademicsOfficial you'd have to be blind to watch d-rose and ja side-by-side drive to the basket and think that ja was faster.
@@FistfulOfGabagool pure blindness. russ and john wall also were faster
@TJ remember Rose's acrobatic layups? The amount of body control he had? Then you got Russ whose got like all stats at 99. People see a guy jumping a little higher and assume he's the most athletic guy there, I just find it so stupid to read and listen to those statements in 2023
Do you think Shaedon Sharpe with a 49" measurement is the highest for any player?
I don't think that measurement was accurate, personally
You need to check out JUMPIN JOE BALLARD from the Globe Trotters. I saw him take off from behind the Foul line in a game dunk over 4 guys & all most crash into the Back Board!!
I've got videos of him on my page!
Shannon Brown was a skywalker
Ja had a 47 in the combine, Westbrook didn’t even have a 40, and Rose had a 42 so obviously it’s Ja. But Westbrook dunks it angry and with bad intentions as do the other two which makes him appear more athletic.
Doesn't Dennis Smith jr. have a 48inch vert?
Steve Francis and Baron Davis were insane too.
Its Ja. Everyone is just nostalgic for the OGs like D Rose. Go argue wit ya microwave
can you believe that i had an accident about a month+ ago and now i'm jumping higher than before 😅
Between these 3. Ja is a clear number 1, Russ and D-Rose are kind of equal.
He forgot Nate Robinson
Russ is 6'3 (actually 6'5), D-Rose at 6'1 can get his head over the rim
I got drose I feel like ja jumps a Lil higher but people was scared to get in the way if drose when he went to the lane
Rose had more force and body control
I'd say the opposite...Ja attacks the rim way harder than Rose ever did. Rose didn't dunk on people as much as Ja does. Rose would try to go around the defender more often
DRose was like a powder keg. Ja plays with better pace and picks his spots better.
Green high jump alley-oop of all time, chin above the ring)
Tigger. Bounce high and always lands hard
Shannon Brown is the only guard in this video that is truly as bouncy as Ja, though he is more like a shooting guard. Should have featured more of him or Dennis Smith Jr along with Drose instead and had Westbrook as an honourable mention.
just because ja jumps higher, doesn't mean he checks all boxes regard pure Athleticism.
I mean, he's fast, quick, shifty, coordinated, can use either hand, jumps out of this world.....what more do you want?
@@DunkademicsOfficial Every skill you just named every all star point guard has. Russ, D-Rose, John Wall, Allen Iverson, Kyrie (except vertical), Francis, Baron Davis, etc etc etc. Curry has those, except jumping. Through 4 years in the league he averages 62 games, which is 20 games per year he misses. He's not durable, doesn't have the strenght a Russ or Cp3 type of player has, has barely proven himself along an all time great ball player and you're saying he's already the most athletic PG ever. That's just wrong and straight outta pocket.
Shannon brown was tuff
To say Ja is more athletic because he jumps 2 inches higher on a running vert is kind of a ridiculous statement. Let's see this guy's athleticism take over a season and get that MVP trophy...
Mac McClung has measured 48" which puts him over anything Ja has shown. Ja is probably 2nd for PG at ~47" but maybe he could measure 48" too.
Mac is definitely up there, but is still more of a GLeague player at this point. He hasn't shown a 48" jump in the NBA yet
@@DunkademicsOfficial True, even in the dunk contest on the push off dunk his head was still 1-2" from the rim.
ua-cam.com/video/xW4SVoTd4EQ/v-deo.html
To get 48" he'd need to be 2" over the rim. Ja is showing ~47" on these alley-oops, he could probably measure 48"
remember bro was was hating on 11/13 year olds
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE VIDEO WIT ZACH LAVINE,GERALD GREEN,AARON GORDON.....

@@intelligence4187 I MEANT GERALD GREEN..... MY BAD...
Top 3… I think he is the Best Bounciest point.. I’ve always called him the perfect combination of A.I. Terrence Ross & Kyrie’s Swerving. He does Gerald Green type Aerobatics every night. The NBA’s Tyler Curry💯💯💯
i’m pretty sure there’s a rumor that Muggsy Bogues dunked on Bol once tho
video or it didn't happen! lol
Even so his apex still isn’t higher than Ja’s.
Another vid like this with Mj Vince and Bron?
would be interesting
VINCE CARTER ALL THE WAY, HE WAS ON A WHOLE DIFFERENT LEVEL.....
Basically the highest can only be measured from the floor to the foot that's closest to the floor at the time of the dunk. That way height or weight is canceled out because it varies for each player 2) the distinction between point guards also varies from off guard or shooting guard based on how the list them remember 6'9 magic was a point guard...so you have to isolate all variables that will affect the outcome or say all guards...to me that's a non isolated issue, just go with the highest dunker. 6'2-6'4 is a big difference..so when in a comparative analysis the same variables must be in the equation.🤔🤔🤔🤔 so is it micheal, dr J, or Ja?
nah D rose still is in his prime b4 the injuries he defeats ja whole career
maybe as a player, but not in jumping
@@DunkademicsOfficial it's honestly based off opinions but prime d rose is unmatched imo
that alley op from JA was 100 percent angle, you ve been fliming dunking for 2 decades you should knew it better than me....
If you are talking about the oop with two hands I’d have to disagree.. that second angle is about the truest to height angle possible
Shannon brown was pretty impressive
That one g league player was wild
Ja jumps the highest but when u talk about physical strength and power of the dunk, I would put Russ on top of Ja. Russ’ landing is also the best too. Explosive athletic guards tend to get injured often but Russ is a machine. He barely gets injured
Russ has had a few knee surgeries, and has definitely lost a lot of his explosion and bounce over the last few years...but his prime was definitely crazy. I still have Ja tho
I agree he weigh less than them makes the difference
Floors might have more bounce now too... maybe.
don't think so
I don't think the floor is too different between 2023 and prime Westbrook in like 2016.
Good point!
Well, unless you consider Shannon Brown a SG lol. Steve Francis in 2000 slam dunk contest is head at rim level also. Dennis Smith Jr is there as well. Mac McClung is probably 2-3 inches off and so is prime Nate Robinson. Come to think of it, Anfernee Simons probably has Ja Morant beat.
I shouted out Shannon Brown and Francis towards the end of the video. I don't think either of them actually got head level with the rim (but got decently close)
Shannon Brown is also tough to rate because he's listed at 6'4, but I don't think he actually is...
Steve Francis is listed as a little shorter than Ja Morant, but doesn't get as high.
I stuck mostly with the 3 in this video because they're roughly the same height, and they're the 3 main point guards people talk about
Anfernee Simons definitely a shooting guard....Prime Nate Robinson is a great contender, he's also tough to rate because not sure if his listed height is accurate or not.
@@DunkademicsOfficial Oh I thought Simons is a combo guard . The Shannon Brown block against the rockets in definitely rim level.
Steve Francis used to jump pretty high back in the day
yup, thats why I brought him up later in the video
Higher than Rose and Russ.
All NBA stars has explosive skills until they got a knee injury. Hoping this will not happen to him someday.
Nice video.
Glad this was put to rest. I had the same order. Tired of casual fans n all the fake praise the give Rose like he was jumping over the damn rim 😅
Spud? Muggsy?
What about Shannon Brown
AI had some bounce and was a lot shorter.
AI had long arms, but being in football shape certainly helped.
He is a hybrid only seen monkeys jump that high bro he is not human
Point guards!!!!!!
also steven francis
Dennis Smith Jr jumps higher than all of them
he gets up there for sure
Your wrong!! U miss nate Robinson and spud week. Lol
Think jalen green deserves a mention
John Jordan of the G-league had the highest vert!
he's got tons of bounce, but ya this is an NBA list.
I filmed John Jordan hitting his head on the rim. It was insane
DEE BROWN.... maybe not THE highest but he was my favourite dunker from my teens.
he was dope
Young drose thou
Besides vertical all are athletic in their own way.
Rose: Agility, Explosiveness, and Flexibility
Westbrook: Speed and Power
Morant: Vertical
Wrong the highest guard jumper of all time was Dennis Johnson. Dennis was 6-4 and jumped 14 feet 2 inches. He grabbed a sliver dollar off the top of the backboard.
Dennis Johnson played for the Celtics and could not jump that high....His brother, Jumpin Joey Johnson could FLY, but he wasn't in the NBA
How bout Dwayne Wade?
Steve franchise an honourable mention)
what about spud webb?
he and Francis get a shoutout towards the end of the video
Big D Rose fan and got a lot of criticism for saying Rose is the best point guard ever in his prime. If Rose was just 6'6" He'd easily be the GOAT above Jordan because of his jumping ability. But I agree with you.... Ja Morant without a doubt jumps higher than D-Rose. And to be honest I haven't watch an NBA game in decades. This is my first time actually seeing a clip of J Morant. I'm very impressed.
Ja clearly jumps the highest but he is also the lightest of the 3. I'm sure that gives him an advantage in that respect.
possibly
I think d rose is still higher as the shortest of the list but no john wall mention😮
John Wall had some sick dunks, but he wasn't getting as high as these guys...
I don't think DRose is shorter than Ja
@@DunkademicsOfficial you're right🤔 had to look it up I thought ja was taller
Ja 170 in weight so he’s got a lil advantage far as bounce but Westbrook and Rose came in the league at 190 I think rose was the fastest out of everybody though in his prime
remember Scotty Pippen was a point guard
remember scotty pippen was about 6'10
@@joeyshouse6405 6' 8"
Dennis smith jr out jumps them all
derrick rose is not 6’2 lol. hes 6’ 6’1 tops
could say the same about Ja to be honest
@@DunkademicsOfficial u not wrong, lets be honest tho NBA is not 100% honest abt heights . Most guards heights are exaggerated 1-2 inches
Would Ja jump higher than Isaiah Rivera?
Agree on the jumping. Disagree on most athletic. That title still goes to pre-injury DRose. His first step quickness and speed up the court was faster than Morant IMO. I have to consider all of that as well. Also, Rose and Westbrook just visually much stronger and more powerful than Morant.
Speed/quickness is obviously a lot harder to calculate just by highlights, but I haven't seen anything DRose can do that Morant can't do equally as well, or better athletically.
Morant gets to the rim just as easily, evades defenders (or goes over them)...has a crazy layup package just like DRose did...
@@DunkademicsOfficial I had to go revisit some old highlights to verify but just from the eye test I strongly disagree. Even in the half court Rose was leaving guys flat-footed in his rear view beating them so bad they weren't in the picture when he got to the rim. Much of Morant's highlights are alleys, finishes off gathers, transition finishes/attacking with a head of steam against retreating defenders. When both he and his defender are starting in a traditional 1vs1 position he's nowhere near as quick as DRose. In the highlights I saw of Morant (I literally just watched them) when he's starting stationary with ball in hand and goes against a defender he is able to maneuver to the rim but he's usually still getting challenged by the same on ball defender. In A LOT of Rose's highlights under the same scenario the on ball defender was beaten so badly he's rendered irrelevant. The first step quickness of Rose was far superior,
I still believe Spudd jumps higher than Morant.
hard to tell cuz of the height difference, and not sure if Spud's listed height was his actual height...but he had mega bounce for sure
Ja Is Also 30 Pounds Lighter Than Derrick And Russell👌🏿!
bruh, how is it even a debate?
ja is it
plus ja is shorter than both Westbrook & Rose
Tho,
Rose is fastest at acceleration
Westbrook is the most difficult to stop because of weight
Definitely not the most athletic dunker, Derrick Rose jumped higher until he got that ACL injury. Derrick Rose is also shorter at 6’1”. Don’t forget about Nate Robinson at 5’9” which had more dunks than Ja Morant.
did you watch the whole video?
Russ is the angriest dunker of all time
agreed! JA jumps the highest!
Ja and it shouldn't be close
John wall???
he's fast, but didn't have the same elite bounce...still a great dunker, but wasn't getting head level with the rim or anything
Hell nahhh bruh, Derrick rose
Show me your evidence...There's nothing out there that supports Derrick Rose jumping higher than Ja
Easiest way to settle this. Ja Morant has the highest vertical/most hangtime. Russ is the most explosive. Derrick Rose is the most finesse/fastest. 3 most athletic point guards of all time.
I'm still not sure what people mean when they say Rose was more "explosive"....like whats the metric for that? I always thought explosiveness was directly correlated with jumping ability, which would mean Ja is more explosive...
I'd be very interested to know how fast they all were in their primes, but impossible to tell just by watching highlights
@@DunkademicsOfficial Explosive means first step speed. Rose eye test is the quickest. It's a blur in his prime
dennis smith jr is highly over-looked in these debates
good looks on the shoutout billy
It's because he's not a big name, and hasn't gotten to show off his bounce enough in the NBA.
Hard to be included in a debate when you don't have a ton of highlights. I know he's gotten a decent amount of regular dunks, but he's not getting head-level in NBA games yet.
There's probably other guys who have briefly been in the NBA who could jump close to Ja, but just didn't get to show it
Similar situation when you talk about James White and best dunk contest dunkers. James White is the best free throw line dunker of all time (when dunking outside of the NBA), but unfortunately, he didn't get in the NBA dunk contest until he was past his jumping prime
U have to say MVP derrick rose not just derrick rose cause he's still in the league I still don't think ja Morant jumped higher never mind ja Morant jumped higher he dunked over Beasley
You forgot about AI
AI got bounce
But hell no does he jump higher than Ja 😂
@@troliskimosko I mean he didn't put him in honourable mention, Ja probably is the highest jumper amongst guards in the league history
AI didn't have bounce like this...he could dunk, but nothing suuuper crazy
@@LeonYuL Among PGs you mean. Jordan jumped as high for sure, and even though he played just 4 games and had 9 points total, DJ Stephens might be the highest jumper in NBA history, he is a shooting guard.
No one like JA
No y'all got that all wrong. Derrick. Rose is the bounciest of all time so get that right. Derrick Rose Chicago bulls is the bounciest point guard I've ever seen. Way more explosive than this dude here and he was shorter and faster
negative...just check the evidence...it's all here in the video
@@DunkademicsOfficial he just seen more explosive to me. It can't be explained. He just look more explosive way more.
