The Biryani Boys celebrate Record Store Day 2016 with an exclusive release from Northern Spy Records. Ravi Shankar - Live in Hollywood, 1971; a double LP that captures the music performed by acclaimed sitar player, Pandit Ravi Shankar at his home in Hollywood California.
This collection captures the complete concert and includes Ragas composed by Shankar himself like Raga Parameshwari. Accompanying Shankar is the innovative percussionist, Ustad Alla Rakha on tabla.
Also in attendance is George Harrison (The Beatles) who along with Shankar was inspired by the music enough to generate the spark responsible for organizing the Concert for Bangladesh later that year to raise money for UNICEF and awareness of the humanitarian crisis left in the wake of Cyclone Bhola.
