HERE'S THE SECRET to covering the SOUND of the ring hitting the table! In bars, clubs and at parties, the natural sounds will 'cover' any small sound of the ring on the table. And when you want to do this in a quieter place, just say the words, "Watch carefully!" at the moment you drop the ring into your cupped hand. That way, your words will 'cover' any small sound.
now do it with a dustbin lid.
SankeyMagic e
lol great trick.
SankeyMagic
SankeyMagic funny I was going to ask that until I scrolled down😉
I’m going to do this to my girlfriend. Use one of the rings she wears and make it reappear as an engagement ring.
KJM did you do it???
How'd it go?
SPILL THE BEANS BOI
😍
Welp he’s dead
I love the way you explain your magic. So concise and easy to understand. Thanks.
I’ve been watching Sankey for almost 20 years. By far the best at explaining the process of a trick. Not just the mechanics but the psychology.
Mate UA-cam ain't been out for 20 years
Franco Fitzharris he has DVD’s from 20 years ago
You took a one minute explanation of a trick and turned it into a thesis on history, magic, slight-of-hand, theatre, presentation, and I don't know what else. Thanks!
It is so refreshing to have someone who spends as much time on the 'technical' aspects as those 'soft' skills. When I travel to a country whose language I don't speak, it is amazing to me how open kids are to following me and 'playing'. As long as the 'adults' see me having 'fun' (making faces is a good opener) with their kid, they tolerate me quite well.
Children will engage 100% of the time, where adults mostly not at all. I mention this because they have a sense of wonder not yet spoiled, and are similar to 'willing' participants in close-up. Performing anything-even if just making kids laugh at your expressions-without explanation is universal, and taps into something primal. We will question what we are _told_ more than what we are _shown_ . Adults have lost that feeling of awe & wonder that used to make their imagination take a stroll, but kids still have it. They actually THINK about what they see.
What I appreciate about the videos of yours I've seen so far is that you have a deep appreciation for this obvious, but seldom explored aspect of _any_ interpersonal interaction. I would rather make one kid laugh than make 1,000 adults go, "How did he do that?"...
Thanks for your thorough perspective, good sir. :)
Hey, with such articulate and insightful fans such as yourself, it's a true pleasure to share my POV. Thanks so much!
Yet, another video that is a classic example of why you are one of my most favorite magicians and teachers.. FYI love your Inside Deception site
Hey Jay, just wanna let you know that I started magic a couple years ago and really started to pick up on it about a year ago. I was never at a "good" level until I seen you perform because you show me what's all possible. So thanks for being such a big inspiration.
This is awesome. Anyone can do magic! Check this out: bit.ly/2qkSItY . You can feel on top of the world if you know this.
Ji
Love how you always explain the psychology behind the misdirection. I've been a passive viewer for quite some time, and I think it's time for me to sack up and purchase the back to school pack
Whether you do or don't, I still really appreciate your interest in my stuff. Hope it's a great day for you Darth B.
Thanks! I know how to do a lot of the magic tricks professionals use, but I never had the time to really put in to do them skillfully. Honestly it just makes me enjoy magic even more because I find the scripts more entertaining and when you know what the magician is doing, how difficult it is, and many single magic tricks have multiple pieces that are used to create the overall illusion - seeing them pull this off flawlessly is more impressive than when I didn't know magic! My favorite was a disappearing coin trick I pulled on my brother who is a cop and was working with the DEA basically as a detective...not an easy person to fool. I had three coins in my hand, and when I was supposed to open my hand and reveal only two coins, I'd messed up and there were still three coins, so I acted embarrassed and closed my hand, turned it over (while standing, so I couldn't drop a coin), tapped my hand then opened my hand to reveal only two coins. The look on my brothers face was priceless. Keep up the excellent work!
I think you really are an amazing person - so great to watch.
Many thanks....all the way from London !
Two things to keep in mind, the ring has to be perfectly round, no stones and the table must have a cloth to muffle the sound of the ring falling
When I travel abroad and I don't speak the language, I do a little hand magic, this breaks the ice, and I am able to get people to interact with me, I often get invited to a meal or drinks and friendships are formed. My best trick in a bar is to make a Sleeve Glass (Straight Pint Glass) pass through a wooden table. Ace ending t a small act of Magic. :)
true... you can know the mechanics the sleight of hand but the performance is what really sells the trick!
Omg i tried this trick in my closet and all my friends loved it! Now i need to show the people at school
I don't really do tricks, but I like to occasionally watch tutorials and DUDE! You are the first one to actually talk to us like an instructor, a mentor, not just some guy doing a tutorial. Best.
Thanks man.
I watch magic videos constantly. You are one of the best teachers. You cover so many perception details that many magic tutorials omit.
I like video👇👇👇

I have a couple of Jay's DVD's and learnt a lot from them and have had my friends scratching their heads after a magic trick, great laugh's too. Thanks Mr Sankey.
Thanks mate . I'm always looking wee tricks to amaze kids with . Simple and really effective!
This guy's a real artist. Pleasure to watch.
I scrolled far down the comments below with this being the first time (it's been years), that I haven't came across not one negative, sarcastic, snarky or any troll like comment whatsoever. That dear sir, I reckon is certainly one helluve tough feat to have accomplished.
I salute you Sir, BRAVO!
Sankey is my Hero! His T-shirt collection is on Point as well.
I love t-shirts!!!!
30 yrs plus for me in knowing some of the magical arts.retired clown kids parties. Canadian . Love your stuff.
Very cool thanks 😎
Excellent instruction, thanks!
Best Magic Teacher Ever :)) Thank you Jay for the vid, watching one allways gives me motivation to explore magic more!
Saweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
Well done. Enjoyed your presentation.
Its been too long to see one of your videos again. I have so many of your DVDs, my fav is the one teaching how to create your own magic.
This is brilliant because i always have 7 rings atleast with me 👌🏼
You’ve got me hooked. I watched one video and liked it. Today I watched another and subbed. I really enjoy watching you and learning something too. I’m 64 and easily amused, but your slight of hand is pretty amazing. Way cool.
This is such expert instruction! The heart of an effect may satisfy someone puzzled by a trick, but the real skill that makes magic work is in mastering patter, misdirection, presentation, all the components of the showmanship of magic.
Awesome!!
Awesome tricks sir, hope to learn it more from you, I'm a Filipino guy a new Subscriber, really love magic tricks 👍
Great video, I actually loled when you showed the roll along the arm, so simple! Sub for sure!
LOVE IT! I have been doing Slydini,s one coin routine for many years and this will add a lot to that. Thank you for sharing this one. Happy Magic! John
I'm so unlucky, cuz I performed to my family and when the coin was supposed to roll, it just stayed flat. To cover it up I had to use soooo much misdirection and finally just did the other vanish. It was good but it could have been better if it rolled.
I can't believe I just fell for a vanish that I had already been using.
Lol.. Same here 😂
Brilliant Jay.
Wow, i got more from this video than i was expecting :)
Like the explanation was almost more entertaining than the trick itself.
Cool...so very cool! Thanks 😊
Thanks!
Everyone loves magic. It’s really awesome
NICE totally subscribing now
Like your Chanel. My magic folder is filled with your vids for me to refer to and practice. Please tell us of some of your failed shows stories to show everyone that it's ok to fail, that some times giving it a go means more than the result. Love your work. Cheers Shane.
i was like i've seen him somewhere....he was on spellz 😁
SankeyMagic You are a very articulate instructor. I clicked on your vid by chance, and glad i did. Thank you for sharing your talents, and you sir, are very talented! Keep on keepin' on man!

As I know you know - it's ALL about the performance. :)
Very amazing .

Great trick (with variations), great video, lots of fun -- thanks!
Very good video!
Nice trick and a great video! Thanks!
Terrific video
You gave me an idea. Have a quarter that you know the date on in finger palm.Take a quarter from a spectator with the thumb and forefinger. Put the spectator's quarter on the table and place your hand and the extra quarter over the spectator's quarter. Lap the spectator's quarter. Feel around the quarter without looking at it and tell the spectator the date. Hand the spectator the quarter and have them verify the date.
Its cool
Nice shirt man!
This guy is magical. Keep it up!
Only took till minute 1 to like the video, although I don't know you, you seem very genuine and likable.. Also thx for the upload
*I can do it!* I can do it with a coin and a ring now, but........I just still can't do it with the garbage can lid, it's just so obvious where it goes. PLUS it twats me in the face when it rolls towards my lap.
LOL
It's another weird thing of magical illusion. My first real trick was a simple thumb tip. I didn't even want to perform it for anyone despite hours of practice because, like you said, it was so obvious. Only to those with the knowledge. I remember once I got a very dark TT and put it in the bottom of a bag. For fun one day I usedit to see if I could still make the illusion work. Nobody ever got it. One thing Jay does so well is put himself into the mindset of the audience. He develops his routines with that secret knowledge and as a result he is truly a master.
ROFL
The garbage can lid is reserved for Shaq and Andre the Giant.
Trying that with sewer lids (manhole covers) can be a bit dodgy, too. 😀
Great one Jay!
You're the man Sanky.
brilliant ..... very well explained
Good, very good.
This trick is really cool...... I loved it and its easy to learn and perform
when you made the ring vanish i thought your surely palming it but when you showed your both hand i was like😨😵 what the hell!!!
I love it when I get completely deceived by something too!

Sankey You are best !
I was lucky enough to do a workshop with Jay many years ago Down Under and to this day his ability to understand and convey the psychology of illusion and performance remains among the best I have ever seen. Mind you I don't know who I would name above him.
