The 2 dombra players either side of Dimash feature in some of his concerts and they are fantastic. Dimash plays along with them at these times. Love this song and celebrates Kazakhstan's independence after many years of oppression from Russia 😊🙏💞

The first President of free Kazakhstan wrote the lyrics of this song to celebrate their independence from the Soviet Union. It's sung during the yearly Independence Day celebration on Dec. 16. Dimash was asked to sing the song on national tv for Independence Day celebration in December 2020. Beautiful production.
The two-stringed Kazakh lute is called a dombra, and Dimash plays it well. The two stringed instrument held between the knees like a cello is called a kobyz (ko-bus) and is an ancient instrument that was a precursor to the violin.

The first instrument was cobyz, the other ones that look like mandolins called dombra. Dimash can play dombra pretty well himself.

Dimash often adds one like this one digitally generated, or snippets of real footage of this majestic bird soaring among the mountains tops of his beloved country.
He says it is a symbol of freedom after liberation from Russian occupation, and the vow never to be enslaved again!!! Interesting snippet of info, considering that Kazakhstan only gained their autonomy after the collapse of Russia (1991).

A bit of info. Kazakhstan, just like Ukraine, is a country that used to be a Soviet Union colony. And it managed to get its independence when Soviets dismembered, in 1991, together with all the others, Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia etc. Every time Russians invaded a new country, they 1st took away some 15% of native survivors and sent them to bare places in Russia to die, or using them as cannon fodder for their next victims, while bringing Russians instead. Then enforced Russian as official language and let people mix. Then, after a while, they claimed that country as Russia. Of course, Kazakhs are as sensitive at their nationality and independence, just like all the other former Soviet colonies. They suffered a lot under Russians. And now, with Ukrainian war, they are particularly touchy at the subject, being afraid they might be next. Once conquered, Ukrainians are going to be used as Russian cannon fodder to occupy other countries. BTW, Dimash's mother is Russian, his father is Kazakh. That eagle is Kazakh national symbol. All instruments are traditional Kazakh, some are ancient. And Dimash is singing in Kazakh, which is very near Turkish language. Instruments are: kobyz (the one with hole cut in the body), dombra, dabyl, zhetigen.
I have read many comments about your doubts and they are all great, so I am only adding one. The History of Kazakhstan is captivating, take some time to google it and read the part that covers the Russian invasion in the 1800’s till the independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The people of this country was decimated during the Imperial Russia and Soviet Union control. That’s why this song is very important for all Kazakhs.
