For some odd reason, once upon a time in America, homes were built with thick wood shutters. They had hooks top and bottom fitted into the frame outside of the windows. This kept out the heat of the day, and when storms hit like this one in the video. The hail could hit those shutters all it wanted, and yes it would have cracked the wood or put dents into the shutters. Well modern homes and some older ones (1970's) may have had shutters, but people had them removed. I think for those who have no shelters (basement or a separate compartment outside their home) should think about having shutters (thick ones) put back up on their windows and securing them just like the old timers way back in the day. In Europe, most countries have sliding shutters. This keeps out the heat, and it helps when there are storms like this. Keeps their windows from shattering. Alas, this is the world of modern technology, and AI. Smart thinkers with new inventions. It's all going down the tubes isn't it? There was a reason why homes had shutters. Sad that softball size hail the likes that some states have never seen before are now popping up anywhere and destruction and loss is great.
