When I started getting white labels of this stuff from my mate who engineered a lot of it at the Dragonfly studio in Brixton around ‘93 I would get amazing reactions when I dropped it in a set and eventually when I had enough I could play a whole set of this stuff. Didn’t even have a name for it back then but it was so different, and amazing for really building up to a climax on the dance floor. Since then this style of music hasn’t really developed much beyond where it got in the late 90s apart from the improvement in production values, and honestly I just don’t like the whole aesthetic of the scene - the acid techno squat party thing was much more my thing, a kind of punk aesthetic and a somewhat tense and edgy atmosphere. Each to their own I guess. All that said, even with the current stuff, if you get a really good stripped down psy trance banger there’s nothing quite like it!
@@ivanjokovic Do you listen to acid techno by any chance? There are similarities to the harder psy stuff and can have quite a funky groove but it’s more aggressive and less noodley!
Psy trance all sounds too similiar now...nearly no remixes are any good... it was so inventive back then. Everyone was different, who remembers Club 414 on Coldharbour lane? pretty close to butterfly studios in Brixton which became Dragonfly when it was still just called tribal acid. The Megatripolis parties were a precursor. The stuff from 93 was a convergance of many things. To mention a few... TIP, Transwave, Flying Rhino, Total Eclipse, Matsuri, Doof, Astral Projection and Etnica. These were real innovative sonic pioneers. Sorry for all the copy cats who still cant top this.

bought this CD Flying Rhino Records back when I visited Cambodia in 2004. Cool Psychedelic Trance and Goa Trance music!
