I had my girl being toxic to me yesterday. Its like...they evolved to start shit so that they can test you. same like she says. They want to know they have a guy that don't take shit when it's BIG trouble and they will lay down the law...but also test if the guy is getting upset about small issues she created or not. Lots of pent up frustration from men who don't understand that their date/girlfriend/fiance/wife is pulling away because of past trauma that socialized her to act in this manner and that she may feel stuck and unable to deal with the issue. You may not know this Marni, but men also filter out women who waste their time and who can't handle talking honestly about emotions. Sometimes this is best achieved by treating them the way we would like to be treated by sharing our feelings about the situation and seeing if she is capable of a mature response. I'm probably a bad example for what a man does. If a woman pulls away from me I figure she doesn't want to have much to do with me, so I move on. No fanfare, no big speech. I just walk away. What usually happened after that is the woman would call me and be like, "Where'd you go? You stopped calling." Then I would tell them that I thought that you weren't into me so I was just letting you go. Then a litany of excuses would follow with some "let's try again" bullshit, which would turn me off. The bottom line with me is this: I was never dating just to date. I wanted to get married and have a family. If you play games, I don't want you. If you're too busy for me, I don't want you. If you're flaky and can't remember to call, I don't want you. The woman I marry will be my family and the center of my world. If I'm not that to her, then she's not the one for me. You don't have to be "crazy-in-love" or obsessed with me, but if I'm not important to you now, I won't be important to you later. Women should learn this lesson too. Best way to control your emotions is to not give 100% until they’ve earned it in the relationship over time. Best way to do that is to be open to/ or see other women. If she does this, it's because of her attachment type and how she was socialized while growing up. It's possible she has an avoidant attachment type and perhaps even an avoidant personality disorder. It may feel like a puzzle to you, and while I applaud you for the self-respect and for putting up a barrier and standing up for yourself, this may come off to her as you not being supportive of her and, while I mean no offense, does seem to me like it might come from a place of neediness and even frustration/vengeance. "You're ignoring me? I'm punishing you by making you feel bad."
Though I will admit it's hard to get a read on your intention through the Internet - I don't know you nor do I fully grasp the context behind your relationship, but this is the "vibe" I'm getting from your comment, as well as quite a few others here. Lots of pent up frustration from men who don't understand that their date/girlfriend/fiance/wife is pulling away because of past trauma that socialized her to act in this manner and that she may feel stuck and unable to deal with the issue. She might not even understand why she's doing it or what's happening until after the fact, and be stuck with regret and blame herself for it - which in turn, could lead her to develop depression and even borderline personality disorder.
But I will also admit, when "coaches" like Marni make it out to be some sort of unchangeable "biological drive" or "biological imperative" all women have, it doesn't make it better for the dating scene - rather, it makes it much worse for everyone, because it shuts off any analysis of the situation and does not contribute to understanding "why" this happens in the first place. It makes it into a taboo subject. "Stop trying to read too much into it because you're XYZ, women are just like that biologically" is what I hear, rather. This is why I dislike psychopopulists like Jordan Peterson, who should, in fact, know better, simply because they have a PhD or Master's in that field. Rather, I wonder if they're plainly unaware or unwilling to accept the facts due to their own personal trauma that's tied to relationships (and perhaps the inability to accept said facts, perhaps because it brings back something traumatic that they've tried to compartmentalize or hide away/forget), or simply because they're making too much money off of the platitudes they offer to people on social media and UA-cam subscribers. Just a little food for thought there.
P.S. - Yeah, I get it, Marni does this because she ultimately means well, and some of her advice is helpful and even brilliant and positive, but she is human, too, and I find that this belief that some things are just "biological impulses" in women and that they are exclusive to women, is her Achilles's Heel. I'm probably a bad example for what a man does. If a woman pulls away from me I figure she doesn't want to have much to do with me, so I move on. No fanfare, no big speech. I just walk away. What usually happened after that is the woman would call me and be like, "Where'd you go? You stopped calling." Then I would tell them that I thought that you weren't into me so I was just letting you go. Then a litany of excuses would follow with some "let's try again" bullshit, which would turn me off.
The bottom line with me is this: I was never dating just to date. I wanted to get married and have a family. If you play games, I don't want you. If you're too busy for me, I don't want you. If you're flaky and can't remember to call, I don't want you. The woman I marry will be my family and the center of my world. If I'm not that to her, then she's not the one for me. You don't have to be "crazy-in-love" or obsessed with me, but if I'm not important to you now, I won't be important to you later.
Women should learn this lesson too. Trust me, men would stop playing games with you if you did.

Best way to control your emotions is to not give 100% until they’ve earned it in the relationship over time. Best way to do that is to be open to/ or see other women. It gives you the mindset to not be upset when they pull back.
Note: if you are married or living together it’s a whole other story. You have to figure out what is going on and figure out if you should stay together. Many times they’ve already made up their minds about leaving by that point. Lol.

That's why most of girls end up with careless guys and missing on caring guys. Girls and guys live in 2 completely different worlds. Girls figure it out later in the relationship when the so call emotionally strong guy starts cheating and playing them. Most caring guys will react as you described it. Not because they are emotionally broken when you pull away, but because they don't understand this particular reaction of girls as you explain it. So, the logical part of them tells them they might have done something wrong or you girls might have being cheating on them(if they don't trust you enough).

About two months ago,I opened up to my best friend for nearly a decade that I thought we knew each other well enough and asked if she was willing to see if we could go the next level and she agreed,even said she had been thinking about it for awhile as well. I’m not exactly sure what to think about this,she just says that she’s still interested,but won’t say anything else. The whole point of her pulling away is to test if she can control you. It's basic human instinct, to me it makes total sense.
