good video? he said that phoenix flash was undodgeable lol. maybe for dogshit imm3s who should get a new hobby but for actual good players this is stupid as fuck
The routing guides/overheating zones were super useful on attack side, have you thought of ever doing a video where you cover them for all of the maps? Or maybe a map guide for each map, I really liked your split video where you go over how if they have zero mid control, just letting them plant in the default safe area is super OP, it really changed the way I played the map
you take the path which allows you to take the most space while maximising the number of enemies on one side and minimising the other so you only have to worry about one direction.
I adore the Haven comparison because it makes absolute sense. This video also completely explains how I was able to pull my team back from a 4-8 first half to winning 14-12 at overtime... using Phoenix. SO MANY clutch rounds came from me retaking the site by flashing all those open spaces.
I started learning game design for tact shooters, and these vids really help me learn the player's perspective on the levels in Valo. Thanks for the guide
hello mr hooj, I just want to thank you for the incredible videos that got me from silver 3 at the start of the act to plat 2 now, nothing outstanding but ty
Thanks for this! Not only does it help me understand Lotus, it also gives me a framework for how to look at every other map in the game. Great job as always bananaman
I've been waiting for this and I am not disappointed! Lotus felt very different from Haven for me, but I didn't know why until I watched this video. Amazing guide hooj!
"HAH. All knowing my ass. Can't even insert images to his own video. Not sure what you all expected from a BANANA" You go to the comment section, ready to tell everyone there what fools they are. Suddenly, the room is filled with the sound of an electric organ playing a familar tune-the banana’s stream notification sound. As the sound gets louder and louder, your vision starts to change, as if a blue filter were being applied to the room around you. Slowly, an image materializes in front of you. No-not an image a gif. Of an angry banana peeling itself, revealing a shredded physique under its peel. Terror sets in. “:hooj”, you whisper to yourself. Then you hear it. A voice that seems to emanate from every point of the room at once, filling your very existence with its reverberations. “Lowly pleb, you could never hope to see the world as I see it. People shared with their friends, to help them gain RR or to show them they shouldn’t be trusting a fruit to teach them to play Valorant.” The banana begins to morph, its brain expanding, its head growing larger and larger. :hoojBigBrain: “I do not just understand an manipulate the algorithm. I AM THE ALGORITHM” The sound disappears. The banana is gone. You delete your comment. You open valorat. You queue. Lotus.
9:55 I have a friend who plays raze, and as an astra main, theres an interesting combo you can do. Boombot gets sucked into astras [suck] ability, then when you satchel the boombot goes flying down. You just have to make sure the sachel is directly behind where you want it to go (kind of like a golf club, it has to hit it from behind).
I started playing Astra in competitive for the first time this season, and Lotus is one of the maps I play her and is statistically my best map; 80% WR (8W 2L), 1.53 KDR, 164 ADR, 253 ACS, had 29- & 26-kill games. It's definitely a map where it is quite easy to get value from her, but I need to learn some good ults for her as I don't have many great ideas. The last couple days I've been playing Omen every game in unranked to try and learn him so once I'm comfortable with his abilities and feel confident to try taking him into ranked I will have to see if my good performances on the map continue with a different agent.
The contact explode is such good advice. I've done it every round basically on offense, it never fails, starving the defenders of early info is super broken
After being hard stuck Silver 1 and 2 last act. This act I placed in Bronze 2 Jan 11 and I decided to follow the routine to get to gold in a month. And right now I'm Gold 2. Thank you for these helpful guides, hoping to reach plat by the end of this act.
Dude. I love your content but I gotta let you know you are SO deep into the algorithm. Pretty much regardless of what kind of content I'm watching your videos auto play next (I watch a good amount of yours and other Valorant content on my own Accord.) I'm not complaining whatsoever But congrats on the explosive growth man.
UA-cam's algorithm has been changing to recommend and autoplay your frequently watched types of videos, even on things that are completely unrelated. I think this accounts for some of what you are noticing but obviously woohoojin is growing quick af as well
I didnt even finish the video and won a game on phoenix just now lol. That was my first game on Phoenix. Tried my best to push the green zones on offense and held those cheeky kill zones with my flashes. Thanks bananaMan
I am so happy I picked up Harbor specifically for lotus solo que. When i 5 stack i will play Omen or Astra. But i feel like his kit is so good for being aggressive with a stacked team to take the sites. And the fact his wall is on a cooldown makes him so great imo. (From a viper main)
As a pheonix main player, I'm super happy when I come across this video, and some of my strategies match with Coach Banana's. I feel kinda smart now, or at least I can tell I'm learning.
The moment at 10:55 my man is giving away my strats lol I have deliberately asked my raze to play C or B round 1 and 2 and 3 sometimes on defense just to get the enemy team with my fade and raze combo on A on round 3 or 4 depending on when they have the first real gun round and it works almost flawlessly everytime
Started one year ago and I never played much pvp games almost none tbh started late gaming but I solo queued to silver 3 in 3/4 9f a year. I still suck at a lot of point and my aim is often inconsistent but I gotta say these videos helped me a lot ❤ my goal was gold and I am rly close so now I watch all I can get and try to improve with aim and as a team mate bc too many ppl suck at calls or comms in general.
I commented before but I literally just took this video's advice on how to play Tree with the door on defense and I prevented the attackers from entering site 4 times. I was Phoenix flashing into Tree. Their attempt at dealing with me was smoking the Tree entrance to try to flash out of it to enter site. Problem was it was an Astra smoke so I just stepped inside the smoke and waited for them to push. Free kills.
woohoojin i started ranking up by just applying your tactics and game sense and geeting 2x kills and people in the same rank calling me smurf tysm buddy $1000 knowledge
I think it depends in terms of flanking if u deathball a at least flanking is strong because only one person needs to hold the breakable door because it is a huge disadvantage to rush through it from an a hit (since it is a flash zone) and a mollie is large enough to kill u before u can clear the doorway because u can place it such that they have to push through the whole mollie before clearing the doorway so a Phoenix or Skye or brim can solo hold that door, if someone flanks on top of the usual a hold now ur deathball is crying in the club because ur being attacked from 3 sides and incentivizing an early c flank with the intentions of pushing the breakable door means likely very few if not no one has died on the defensive side as yet meaning youre probably getting suffocated in a site (I’ve intentionally done this to teams hitting a in plat diamond lobbies) of course my brain is not as large as that of the great banana but I’d say especially in deathball scenarios this map has many ways of stifling it by flanking and in my experience similar to haven that long angle connecting c main and a main on the flank puts u in a disadvantageous position as an attacker as they can stay relatively close to site while also denying your rotate backwards should they choose to so if ur unsuccessful at hitting a and are stalled out of pushing b you either have to kill the flanker as a team to escape which as I just said isn’t necessarily in your favor or funnel through the death grip that is the tiny little door to get onto b at that point gl honestly because even when you take b you’re now holding 4 possible attack routes, while deathballing is definitely more forgiving on this map I think in general having a lurker take some additional space to ensure the b rotate is smarter like leaving someone lurking up mid to flush out the guy holding the b door
This has made me appreciate Lotus a lot more. I don’t know why me or my friends groan when we have to play on it, its a beautiful map literally and strategically
Another good flash zone I found is just behind 'Mound' and then you flash above it and look away, yes its a bit risky but if you pull it off correctly you will be able to get at least a kill. I found it works best with pheonix, but it does work with yoru aswell.
This is very interesting. I’m noticing that a lot of people in plat love when I play harbor on this map. When it first came out, I told my normal duo that I was gonna play harbor on it and he thought I was joking 🤣 I just wanted to mention too that a lot of players are still not used to this map, so it may take a little bit for some of this guide to take effect well in lower elo such as plat and under. Please correct me if I am wrong 💜
I feel like chamber is actually really good on this map, you can put a trip on b, tp in waterfall and fight for C from mound I’ve found a lot of success
I feel Viper, even an unseasoned Viper, could be essential S tier just based on the strength of her wall on A defense. At least in low Elo, it's very difficult for teams that I solo queue into, to stop a full exploding 5 stack without taking several losses, making retake impossible. Viper wall can make their initial peek very risky with a simple straight wall from stairs to just outside their door. Putting even a sloppily placed moli directly outside that makes them vulnerable when they peek making it easy for your team to pick them off. Once I condition them, for future rounds I do a diagonal wall that gets me from the box in front of stairs all the way to rubble with minimal risk by popping the wall off the rip combined with a moli at their entrance to slow them down. Then knife walk to rubble and pop out at an incredible off-angle. You can also use her wall to play cleverly in A cubby. Once I've completely shut them down at A they become extremely predictable being forced to only push B or C allowing my teammates to adapt and stack those sites. As a solo Viper, having that much agency on D when normally it's Attack-favored just makes her an irresistable pick, even for an Omen main :)
My critique: - A reyna flash is just as good as a pheonix flash, and if you are rating agents based on pop flashes I would push her up to A tier. Its like Kayo flash 1.0 now - Harbour is great but not for posting up with an OP, opping is suited for op agents (jett, chamber) because they can actually peek and survive a miss. Don't smoke with an opper next to you, it gets in the way of his job to get picks - By saying harbour needs cypher or omen you are insinuating you need a double controller comp, not a good comp for ranking up but I rate harbour on his own as well - I also reccomend planting on the edge of the wall inside the A site sandwich and post up inside tree or A main for postplant. You can see the bomb defusing while you are pushing the defuser, very strong - Yoru has no teamplay which is probably why you reccomend him for solo queue, don't pick him. I used to main him before immortal but its not worth it in the long run, you become a 1 trick and can't help your team execute nor fundamentals on defence. Playing yoru is like smoking a cigar don't do it. You could remove him from the game and the meta would remain the same I learned some new things I want to try out as well especially the extensions past B for attack. Good video, thank you
This guide would have saved my life last night, I went on a 6 game winning streak and it was ended by a back to back lotus loss against phoenix/skye/yoru, I was blind the entirety of both games
Can someone timestamp or explain to me why he walks along the left wall of A site even if coming from tree? I didn't notice it. In 7:28 he was saying to hug right wall but later on his pathing map 14:47 onwards shows to go from tree to left wall and hug that Might've just zoned out. Thanks in advance
Is cypher's sole reason for being s teir being able to lock down c site or any there any other reason. Also, should harbor not get selected, would cypher drop as well?
Kayo is amazing on this map. I rarely play kayo but I played him a couple of times on here and did great mainly because of the flashes...would recommend
I like playing A a lot because he can lock down tree with knife asap then flash then molly(basically just util dump and everyone is dead) though you need to have an ability out when they do this
I never really realized that kayo was too supportive for solo queue but I’m a solo queue kayo main and I’ve never really played him on lotus. So this gives me an opportunity to play my first main, skye! :D
Thank you woohoojin. Lotus is already one of my highest win rate maps, but icebox is my lowest even though it was my highest last act (it was like 78%). Icebox guide when?
You should consider hiding stream notifications/alerts for planned youtube uploads like this, they're a little distracting. ty for the informative video
Personally I feel the best open plant for C is the corner exposed to mound. Just because of how easy it is to control mound as attackers in post plant and mollies/defuse delay abilities cover all of top site. Imo it's really hard for attackers to escape mollies and sucks on bomb because they have to jump off or completely leave top of site, which delays them even further; also post plant from mound is really easy to finesse with cover and it's hard to push.
Very good guide, but I do be sticking to sage on this one. Can do goofy stuff with her on this map also got high win rate. And if I feel REAL goofy af, it’s Brim + Judge time, but yeah that is actually just trolling
Pushing A 1v1 through door...I don't think going through door is actually the best move. That flash room is a definite death zone. Plus, you can only come through one opening. However, like you said, the entry is a lot safer as the attacker. So it is a viable option. Because of this, I think that if the defender knows you are coming from that direction, always open door. Your opponent won't know if you are going through door or faking door. Because of this, his positioning needs to be further to the right side of the room because he needs to cover both options. This makes entry from long on the left easier as you know he is probably not exposed to both sides, letting you push in more easily. He won't be at a strong angle to cover hall because then he sacrifices covering your entry from door. If he doesn't have vision on it, you can sneak in for free and that's worst case scenario to defend in the box. So actually, door is a strong enough option to activate door every time but personally I prefer to fake door and push long.

In 7:28 he was saying to hug right wall but later on his pathing map 14:47 onwards shows to go from tree to left wall and hug that Might've just zoned out. Thanks in advance
I agree to his tier list, when lotus pops up on my match, i always go for cypher, especially when playin b or c, cuz its a one way entrance.
we need guides for every map, this was amazing
Is cypher's sole reason for being s teir being able to lock down c site or any there any other reason. Also, should harbor not get selected, would cypher drop as well?
Me watching this video as neon main: ok I have a horrible winrate lets go
*sees tierlist*: o_o
Edit: 32:48 yay
Kayo is amazing on this map. I rarely play kayo but I played him a couple of times on here and did great mainly because of the flashes...would recommend
yup, been playing Kayo and viper/harbor a lot, so many free kills.
hey woohoojin Im watching you from recently and like your video's very informative
I’d love one of these for all maps
Bless you
Thank you Mr banana man, your videos motivate me everyday.
Brother why is everyone calling me a troll when i use woohojin's crosshair they call me Dream and minecraft man ;-;
@3:30 I'll be honest, I didn't know that hole existed until watching this video. I thought it was just a vine lmao
Ooohh Cypher in S Tier my Cypher Main Heart is jumping right now.
Maybe its bc i'm only high plat but in every ranked i make on Lotus their is always one on the back A constesting flanks way too far from site
Im a Fade/Sova player mostly in ranked and have middling results on lotus with them, should I opt to go skye more often in my games?
Personally I feel the best open plant for C is the corner exposed to mound. Just because of how easy it is to control mound as attackers in post plant and mollies/defuse delay abilities cover all of top site. Imo it's really hard for attackers to escape mollies and sucks on bomb because they have to jump off or completely leave top of site, which delays them even further; also post plant from mound is really easy to finesse with cover and it's hard to push.
also it's hard for defenders to pressure you when planting
Woohoojin YES!
Do these guides exist for any other maps? Would love to understand the fundamentals of the map flow to build on
I hear woohoojin in my head after every cope statement after my death now... I've only been watching a couple weeks
Woohoojin, I suck at Lotus, I've never played Harbor and damn now I'm reking it
wait wohoojin I thought u said instalock Reyna if ur below gold for rank up right but Reyna is c tier on this map
Yup, silver players need not worry about optimal picks.
@@Woohoojin oh ok ty
@woohoojin Thx for the FREE RR!!!
