I agree with you, I always over size my rads and turn the trv down when necessary to suit.
    Great film, thank you. 👍👍👍

Just a random note for people who also have a gas fire in their lounge. They dont have a stat so will just keep on burning. They will burn more gas than a modern boiler just to heat one room as opposed to the whole house. If you use a gas fire now you must have a bit of cash to literally burn if you also have central heating to choose between instead.

The larger the rads the more surface area and therefore you can lower the temperature of your boiler for the same bang. Boiler works less for the same gas

Oversizing radiators has another advantage nowadays, due to high energy prices
Because you have more radiator surface area, you can run your flow temp lower, forcing a condensing boiler to modulate (kinda like "turn down the flames") and save some money because it will be in condensing mode more of the time.
I think (not 100% sure yet) heatpumps require a lot more radiator BTU to keep their system efficiency up - is anyone here an expert in heatpump rads yet?

Not me . Thanks for the info though.

I think I have a bit of a Victorian attitude when I say that I'm a big believer in over-engineering or have more than you need. I'd sooner have a larger radiator/boiler than what I usually need and turn it down/have it less taxed than something running at full throttle.

Thanks Al! Here is another idea for a video: I just received an email from Honeywell, the maker of my wifi smart thermostat. They are suggesting I allow my utility company to connect to my thermostat and have control over the thermostat “to make minor adjustments during peak energy use”. They say, “you likely won’t notice the difference while your neighborhood benefits from a more reliabble nergy grid. Clearly the politicians are incentivizing citizens to switch to more and more electricity usage from electric vehicles to electric stoves, yet this kind of control over my thermostat is a sign that our energy grid cannot accommodate increased demand in the future. What say you Al? Do we go along or decline to participate in their schemes?

Keep well clear do not participate in this controlling scheme. Worth a video. Thanks Naps.

I've heard it said that size doesn't matter. Well, that's what I thought the wife said........
