@@nishakanchan7682 We call it as Huli in Kannada for which Coconut is used widely. I think you are saying we should not call Huli as Sambar but as Curry. Only the Idli Sambar should be referred as Sambar perhaps is what you mean. We can debate this endlessly but the fact is that Sambar is used for Huli as well as Sambar used for Idli. For example, lots of people refer to Huli Pudi as Sambar Powder and not Curry Powder. This is udupi sambar and is made with coconut. Maybe you don't know to cook.😂😂 or maybe your mom taught u wrong. There is another style sambar in mlore which is made without cocount and dal is used to thicken, mostly also same method is used in kerala and tamil nadu. My brahmin nbor also uses coconut in sambar they're bhats

This isn't sambar. Sambar who ads coconut..
This is not regular Sambar. This is Udupi Style Sambar. South Canara side we use more coconut to the Sambar.
