They are used to it. Alligators are more scared of you. I'm northern so I get scared too but my southern family acts like they are birds.
9 times outta 10 there’s gonna be a gator in the water if you’re in florida. hell sometimes they’re even in the pools. as long as it’s not mating season or you’re not trying to get into their nests they couldn’t give two f***s about you. crocodiles on the other hand (we do have them in some parts especially the everglades) are vicious and you 100% need to stay away from them bc they will kill you without a doubt even if they’re not hungry.
Trust me in the South most of us southerners tube/swim with gators in the water
