Hmmm, if we can't find a way to destroy asteroids before they feck up Earth a new age of extinction, I say we clearly deserved it.
Sure enough, the amount of karmic imbalance we homo "sapiens" are creating.. definitely magnetically pulls a kinetic response, that's fair.. the amount of bad qi, bad luck, bad science and religion, the perversion of morality and intellect has a price, no amount of prayers or technology will unfeck this if we keep this irresponsible party goin', if this ain't gonna buy it for you, think of the children in 200 years, cursing our bones and dust for making waterworld a dry place.
May as well do some mammoths and larger chickens in the meantime.

@jay Too much, TMI, but as to not appear vague I'll be "brief"; "You'll reap what you've sown", "For every inaction there's action vice-versa", a chain of events, bigger the group, tribe or family, more predictable their actions could be, this world has damaged and changed itself so many times, lost too much, our combined civilizations, cultures and philosphies are all put the test, eventually, greatness seems unending, but it's all history, once you perceive it, it is all gone, dust, wiped, concepts that may never work again, because they neglected one humble, yet powerful philosophy; Our Karma, your actions, words, inaction, silence, ignorance or knowledge, the good and the bad, all have a set of consequences attached to it, no amount of religious insight or scientific discovery can comprehend something that may seen so trivial, so raw, for the unintiated whose the eye is closed like a virgin's chastity belt, this may all seem and sound like malarkey, foolish old tales made up to inspire fear and restraint, the more you see the consequences of your choices and the choices of other people, it unfolds like a flower gifting you the wisdom to make you thrive even in the bleakest stage that you may find yourself acting your role of choice.
Ah, life gives such a flair to the dramatic, as the learned say: wubba lubba dub dub

The segues from the unique amusebouch to the main topic are always so smooth.

I dig it (see what I did there?) because they actually have a window where you can observe the scientists, well grad students, doing their work cleaning up the specimens that they have excavated. I sat there and had lunch during several visits while I was there. It was fascinating watching these skeletons come to life out of a blob of hardened black goo.
To this day, they are still excavating the remains of critters that are in the pits, were they have been intombed for thousands of years.
I was staying with a friend who lived less than a 15-minute walk away from La Brea.
Oddly enough, he had never been there until I came to visit.
I went there four times, in the 10 days I was there.
      Fascinating.

At the end of the day, though, it's actually not up to scientists to arbitrarily hobble their research, it's supposed to be people, working through their elected officials, who decide on what to do with the fruits of that research. If you elect officials who decide to drop an atomic bomb, that's on YOU, not the scientists who made it possible. (Even paleontologists had no idea they were doing this) Which means it was a completely private project by a Capitalist for profit; that's why they "never stopped to ask if they should" when they were only focused on if they could, because that's what they were paid by a Capitalist to do.

We know very little about how genetics even function. Mainstream science still considers 97% of DNA to be 'junk!' Many trials and failures need to happen before a real world test is created. If you want to avoid all the possible risks, of which I name only one, then the projects are all the more expensive and time consuming. Either way, they do need to happen. No, this could make things worse. Mammoths are out of food change right now but once they come back they’ll mess up with food chain, require more land, and produce more CO2

@Medicinal Blood I don't know, a little mammoth snout doesn't sound bad...as for whether or not people like it, it's either that or they can live with the mammoth farts.

Keep up the good work Joe, and chin up, you're at least as awesome as a hybrid clone of Einstein and Spielberg!
