- A classic (and terribly cheesy) promotional piece produced by Paramount featuring a very dull family and their very hip dog. The item was produced in 1992 and was briefly seen at the beginning of select rental items.

This commercial from the 90s is way better than today's commercial.
My family always argued that the boy said "Let's rent porno" as he's heading out the door. 😂
This commercial is better than today's commercial.
This 90s commercial is the best
The little boy in this played Gilbert in the Disney channel movie Under Wraps.
He also made a small appearance in Child's Play 2 as an orphan at Andy's orphanage.
Also in Children of the Corn 5 and Sleepaway Camp 5
Three minutes is a little much for even a vhs promo. The "paws" button on the doggie's little pet remote is a fun gag, though!
Why don't we rent a video tonight 1:41
I remember the ones that came on before "Ghost" and "Naked Gun 2 & 1/2". I remember this one, but forgot which VHS it was on.
The poor doggy has to be stuck with such a strange family. 😂
This commercial is like a cheesy yet good reminder of how a dog can bring a family together
I remember this from my Addams Family VHS. 4 year-old me always thought it was part of the film.
same
This was on the opening of some of the Star Trek movies
And on the dead again vhs.

First saw this in Dead Again.
I had this on my Necessary Roughness VHS.
Appeared on early 90s Paramount videocassettes (way before Viacom acquired the movie studio in 1994)

Come on let's throw caution to the wind 1:49
I remember this from my first copy of Star Trek VI. This family is just too perfect.
I spent a long time waiting for someone to upload this to UA-cam, thank you for that.
Taken from Nessicary Roughness and The Addams Family 1992 VHS.
Actually, this recording came from neither of those two titles. The promo was featured on many Paramount releases around that time.

They were ahead of the game on sea shanties

Actually, this one hailed from a copy of the Jane Seymour cable TV thriller ARE YOU LONESOME TONIGHT. ;)
I also had this on my Necessary Roughness VHS.
Classic movie
"What's a sea shanty?"
"Well, son, it's when we sacrifice a virgin to the dark gods of the sea in exchange for wealth and power. Since your sister has a promising future and you'll be a virgin forever, we'll be taking a trip to the beach on spring break."
Gary owens as the voice Over sweet
The girls face she gives her brother scared me
Taken from Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country 1992 VHS.
Actually, I recorded this one from a copy of a cable TV thriller entitled ARE YOU LONESOME TONIGHT. It was a common promo for Paramount releases of 1992.
Owned 2 video stores back in the day when movie studios actually cared about video stores. Any Promotional advertising like this was welcomed by owners, as it was pretty rare for studios to run ads supporting video rental. Paramount was a great partner in the 80's and early 90's...Unfortunately they changed for the worse around 1994.
David Johnson let’s be glad when Viacom acquired Blockbuster in 1994 that they weren’t dicks about the acquisition and requested the chain exclusively carry Paramount titles and not titles from other studios!
Paramount continued to run advertisements during the year 2000
Blockbuster Video started carrying releases from Paramount and other film companies such as Disney, Warner, Columbia Tristar, MGM/UA and Universal
@@brandonreina4219 Such interesting facts!
