Having just read Carlo Rovelli’s Helgoland and currently working my way through Karen Barad’s Meeting the Universe Halfway I think that easily the most important phenomenologist of the last century, particularly when read through Rovelli’s or Barad’s work, is Niels Bohr.
““Whereas previously we thought that the properties of every object could be determined even if we overlooked the interactions occurring between this object and others, quantum physics demonstrates that the interaction is an inseparable part of phenomena. The unambiguous description of any phenomenon requires the inclusion of all the objects involved in the interaction in which the phenomenon manifests itself.”
    Excerpt from Helgoland
For Rovelli there is no outside of relationships. He takes Bohr’s view of the experience in the lab and applies it to the universe. No determinism, but also no hierarchical cause and effect and no individuals. Rather an interweaving of relational perspectives

Freedom can't exist without the context of a choice to be made shackling it to reality. So, basically, freedom is a fork in the road, and not the road itself?

I like Eric's definition of freedom concerning the liberal arts and education. This is the path I always preferred and it has led me to know God is real and is the ever-present void in conversations like these. We have the free will to choose between being slaves to sin or slaves to God (Romans 6:15-23). Paradoxically you are freed from one when enslaved by the other, by choosing your freedom of your own free will you choose your slavery. The human understanding of the logos has come a long way from the times of Heraclitus.

No, it hasn't. Your explanation of God is post your subconscious decision of a need for it.

Honestly, i don't know how the left lost its mind to which a point, where we'd dismiss a film about child trafficking because it's too right wing (not saying this is your goal here).
I haven't seen the film, but it's seems to me that opposing this objectification of children is a universal truth we can all agree on, and SHOULD!
Divide and conquer is the oldest strategy in the book and simply opposing such obvious wrongs is easy common ground we can find with our political opponents.
That gives the people more power to challenge the power structures and more likelihood that we recognize a common struggle.
I actually want to see this film MORE because of the backlash.
I know I'm not alone in this thought.
