- Scientists in Hertfordshire are developing a new bomb detecting technology using bees. The honeybees are being trained to sniff out explosives, Stuart Leithes reports. ITV News, Anglia.
It’s crazy how under appreciated bees are
I sort of feel bad for the bees because they have to have their heads traped in a spot for a day. But I am impressed that the scientists can even get the bees heads trapped in a small eriea area .
They put them in a fridge so their movement is slowed down
Bees are amazing little creatures.
Those bees are living the life for two days. They don't know much in life. But man did they find a buttload of sugar.
Nice now bees took my job
I remember this and I want to know more...I want scientists to be ethical about this type of thing.🐝
If a hive of bees relied on me for survival, could I train them to attack people who harm me?
you have to eat their queen in order to take control of the bee army
poor bees stuck in some plastic case thing
Did anything ever come of this? I wonder if they could be used to detect COVID, dogs can do that.
I for one don't welcome our new bee overlords.
Is this the reason we don’t see bees in 2023 dam
Monsantos
This is what aliens are going to do to us.
4 days ago. Did you came from 9gag by any chance? :)
@@littlehopeleft what is 9gag
@@professorjack2099 Never mind then :)
@@littlehopeleft okay :)
nah, we got no usefulness
"Buzzworks" good play on the "skunkworks" name for the clandestine flight programs in the US back in the day
This was 9 years ago. Guessing this didn't work out ☠️. Haven't seen any drone squads patrolling the airport yet
This is the most randomest weirdest coolest m fact i heard in life
Maybe they can get honey bees to detect COVID-19?
I've thought the same.
Workers live about 3 weeks (unless they are an overwintering working population) so this is about 10% of their lifespan or about 8 - 9 human years. As for their 'comfort'...well, bees are probably not concerned with personal comfort, but rather their specific role in the health of the colony, and clearly they fulfill no such function here. It's so nice to see yet another species being exploited to solve a human-made problem.
You'd think the solution were obvious: stop making explosives to kill people...but of course our species is untrustworthy and unpredictable.
@Username virgin "respect kind and gentle nature, humans are evil" vs the chad "humans are the apex predators and the dominant species"
Okay. Go write a book about why we need a communist anarchy society where every human does as much as it can in a society so perfect that no human would ever deviate from kindness.
Using a few bees for two days to detect bombs can save human lives, as well as animals! What part of nature do you think suffers most if an airplane explodes in the sky? Think of all that CO2 burned for nothing, as well as the raw mineral costs of rebuilding it!
Who the fuck came up with all that bee training gear, and how? Good lord!! That would take FOREVER to figure oot eh hoser. Wow.
good video^ though the audio is mixed so that sound is only playing through my left headphone for the most part other than random background chatter in my right
I had no idea police used ducks to find stuff! That's crazy! From ducks to bees!!!!
Uncle Roger??
You’d have to replace them after a while tho
1:00 Ducks are trained to detect explosive?
i can control your bees. SO EASY.
this is some flintstones shit
They look like bee batteries 1st comment like
this is wrong on so many levels
Agreed
Oh, I disagree - it is right at some many levels.
worker bees literally drop dead after three weeks
1:00 Ducks?
He said "dogs" but his accent made it sound a bit like "ducks."
Chinese ate all the dogs so they came up with bees
